anyone have any news about who's going to be the SS for the Panthers in 07? Depth chart looks wide open. Shaun Williams is still an UFA, he's getting a little long in the tooth plus he had some injuries in 06.

This spot looks so wide open, is there any news of Thomas Davis moving back to the secondary? just speculation on my part

Minter at SS, Salley at FS appears to be a strong bet ...I would not be surprised to see Carolina move on some cuts like Greg Wesley, etc. when they come around ...

:goodposting: Salley is apparently playing much better than he was last year when he got cut as a new 5th round pick from a mediocre group of safeties. As Beaumont says, there's a long list of vets available (Sammy Knight, Lance Schulters) with more possibly to come.Thomas Davis isn't moving from SLB.

I'd like to see T Davis at MLB.

There is a long list alright but Knight and Schulters ought to have retired already...

True. But the Panthers are working with Mike Minter, Nate Salley, Deke Cooper and CJ Wilson right now. Sammy Knight doesn't look so bad next to that mess.

NCC is working on lining up a try out for me so you may want to add Bassnbrew to your deep sleeper list. Let me know if you want my scouting report.

Positives: Has a thick, defined chest, shoulders and arms, a tight waist, good bubble, thick thighs and calves with room on his frame to add more bulk … Possesses impressive strength, fair balance and quickness with that uncanny vision and awareness to quickly find the holes … Has the hip snap to easily change direction and shift gears, generating a sudden burst. … His feet and body control enable him to pick his way through trash … Has the loose hips and is very good at anticipating the moves after initial contact … Excellent reader who immediately sees the hole develop, and it is rare to see him makes his moves too early … Very hard to bring down once he builds to top speed … Likes to lower his head and drive through with his legs , but also has the agility to bounce … Quick to attack the inside holes and has the acceleration to separate once he clears the trash … Has that natural feel for the holes, quickly anticipating the opening … Has also shown the patience to set up and use his wingmen … Can maintain body control to slide through the holes … When he keeps low, he punishes and can move the pile … Has the balance to stay up on his feet during contact … His strength is evident when he sticks his hat into the fray, and he has also showed effectiveness to face up and behind the line of scrimage … Fluid pick-and-slide agility. Negatives: Looks unnatural running with the ball in his hands, needs to be more conscious of protecting it … Seems to be too erect taking the ball up the middle … Ball security rears its ugly head when he fails to square up on contact ... Lacks the top end speed to close the gap from behind ... Definately not a two way player
