You do know the game is tomorrow, right? That was DoubleG that had that note.Someone brought up a stat after last Thursday's disappointing snoozefest at Green Bay that Thursday night games have something like 60% of the scoring as regular sunday games. Don't know if its a trend or even if its true. But I don't trust offenses to light it up on short weeks anymore. I'm sitting both Stewart and DWill tonight. Won't fret about it tommorow morning, heck it gives me a good excuse to turn it off and go to bed early if it's another snoozer.

I think you're underestimating the Panthers secondary. In two games, the top wide receiver against Carolina was Marques Colston with 3/49/0. The previous week, Vincent Jackson had 4/47/0. No one else has more than two catches or 30 yards against the Panthers.Even going back to last season, there were only five 100 yard performances from wide receivers against the Panthers, and two of those were Early Doucet and Damian Williams. The Panthers will give up a lot of yards and points to tight ends and running backs, but they are really good against wide receivers. Chris Gamble is one of the most underrated shutdown corners in the league, so whoever matches up against him could be in for a long night. I'm starting Nicks, but I'm not expecting him to put up big numbers. Before someone tries to shun you to the AC forum, I'll comment on this game in general. This game, on both sides, looks like it BEGS to be a shootout. Neither defense is going to be able to stop the other offense. For the Giants, I don't think they will even try to run as much as people might think, so downgrade those Andre Brown predictions and I think Carolina actually will run it more than what people might think. But at the end of the day, i see no hope for either secondary.
i'm expecting Josh Norman to be covering Nicks and I think that is a TOUGH matchup for him. Correct me if I'm wrong ( I may very well be), but that is the alignment I am expecting to see that is going to be difficult.I think you're underestimating the Panthers secondary. That would be my guess, and it's why I'm starting Nicks over Stevie Johnson this week. Josh Norman is a young player, but already in this season he has shown tremendous improvement over Captain Munnerlyn. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chris Gamble lining up against Cruz (or Nicks, if they go that route), with Norman playing against Nicks with a safety over the top.Personally, the one Giants receiver that I'd be feeling good about in this game would be Martellus Bennett. I like the idea on bennett. You don't think they would trust Norman enough to play either of the Giants straight up? I know that sounds kind of silly on one leve (him being a rookie and just promoted) but on the other hand, they DID just say they thought enough of him to make him a starter and that is what promising starters do. Also, I've heard nothing but raves about Norman in OTS/Camp, etc. The reports typically talk a lot about him lining up 1-1 on Smith in practice. Just wondering if people might think Norman's matchup might be the straight up matchup and they play zones on Cruz instead....thoughts?That would be my guess, and it's why I'm starting Nicks over Stevie Johnson this week. I'm a Giants homer and I have to ask have you actually seen Prince play? He might be a little better than Coe but not much...Maybe not such a good matchup for LaFell nowrince Amukamara (ankle) is officially listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Panthers.Amukamara will give a much-needed talent-infusion to a shaky Giants secondary. In two games without him, they've given up 518 passing yards and five touchdowns through the air. He could match up with Brandon LaFell if the Giants use Corey Webster to shadow Steve Smith.Source: Mike Garafolo on TwitterSep 19 - 12:52 PM
Giants homer here as well. A healthy Giants secondary is only slightly better than an unhealthy Giants secondary.I'm a Giants homer and I have to ask have you actually seen Prince play? I think it's POSSIBLE, and you're right, Norman has looked amazing in camp. I attended about half of the public sessions and he was step for step with Steve Smith (and talking just as much as him, I might add...he's a really confident player). In his second practice after coming back from injury, he had 4 interceptions on 8 balls thrown at him. With that said, game speed and practice speed is a little different, even when you're practicing against someone like Steve Smith who typically doesn't slow down too much.I think the team does trust him to cover either Nicks or Cruz one on one, but I think that for the purpose of this game plan, they will allow Gamble to match up directly with one of the guys, while they give Norman a little bit of extra help. I could also see them starting the game with Gamble/Norman straight-up on Nicks/Cruz, and adjusting coverage if needed. For fantasy purposes however, I only see this being the case until they are burned once or twice because of it...then they would start rolling some extra coverage. With players like Nicks and Cruz though, one mistake could be enough to put together a big fantasy day.I like the idea on bennett. You don't think they would trust Norman enough to play either of the Giants straight up? Under other circumstances would you have actually been starting both of them? I mean they are both RB3s. Corey Webster isn't playing as well as he normally does. Some feel he may have lost a step. He is lobbying to play more bump-and-run, as that is his strength. Prince, he really hasn't lived up to his first round potential. There's a lot of confidence he'll develop into a dependable corner, he's been limited by slow to heal injuries, but he has learning to dMaybe not such a good matchup for LaFell nowrince Amukamara (ankle) is officially listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Panthers.Amukamara will give a much-needed talent-infusion to a shaky Giants secondary.
