I disagree with Lombardi's 'Al Davis has a 40 on Maclin and doesn't with Crabtree so he'll grab Maclin' idea for a few reasons.1.) Why would you pass on the best receiver in the draft for a 'Speed' guy, when the 'Speed' guy runs a good, not great 40. I can see the Heyward-Bey argument, but not Maclin. Maclin would be the slowest receiver on the team behind Higgins (4.34), Shields (4.37) and Schillens (4.38) (Well, maybe not Walker these days).Reportedly he ran a 4.43 at his Pro Day."University of Missouri wide receiver and first-round draft prospect Jeremy Maclin displayed that he’s fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered at the NFL scouting combine, running a 4.43 and a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day.I see your point, but wasn't Maclin's 40 pretty disappointing?- I'm becoming convinced that Jeremy Maclin is going #7 to the Raiders because Al Davis has his own stopwatch time on him and doesn't with Crabtree. Whether Crabtree is the first WR off the board depends more on how much Seattle or Cleveland like him because I don't believe Oakland will take him. See next...
According to Gil Brandt of NFL.com, Maclin had a 35-inch vertical leap in front of Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach Mike Sheppard and New York Jets wide receivers coach Henry Ellard as 22 teams watched the campus workout."
2. Maclin could have slightly less value to Oakland since they've already got two very good PR/KRs. (Higgins & newly re-signed Justin Miller.)
I think Crabtree is gone to the Hawks or Browns by the time we pick, but if he drops, Al soils his Depends and picks the overhyped guy, Crabtree.
but hey, it's Oakland. WTH knows.
