Patio furniture recommendations? (1 Viewer)

Looking to get a nice seating set and dining set for outside:  something that will last and comfortable without going crazy.

Anybody with specific recommendations for any brands or places to look?

I'll have to check where we got it, but we have a metal dinning table and chairs that has lasted for a long time. (6 years this summer) We have cushions for the chairs and bench, and don't have to worry about taking it inside for the winter.

Got my set from Menards about 8 years ago, and still looks great.  Home Depot has decent stuff too.  Both have reasonable prices.

If you're going to get cushioned seats, get removable cushions that you can bring in if it rains.

Avoid plastic furniture of any kind.  It never ages well in my experience.

Trying to decide between metal and synthetic wicker.

If you know which brand, let me know please.

four chairs and a table is a pretty sweet set up you and your lady and maybe two friends can hang out and then you have something to set stuff on bam another riddle solved by the old swcer take that to the bank bromigos

We have synthetic wicker chaises that look great and have held up well for 3 seasons.

My dream project is to make them out of wood. We vacationed at the gulf last year and they had these rental chairs that were two wooden adjustable chaises connected by a table in between which had a hole for an umbrella. The cushions were a heavy duty breathable material that seemed like it would hold up well to the elements and dry quickly after a rain.

Patio furniture usually seems overpriced to me but a setup like that would be worth it imo.

i just want to say congrats to random for posting the longest link ever to patio furniture on a fantasy football spin off board i have printed this out and will send it in to the guiness factory to see if it gets in the book of records i will keep you posted as news arrives take that to the bank and once again congrats bromigo

After I rebuilt our deck last spring, we were in the market too...I'll share my $0.02.

On our old deck, we had a decent set from Lowes.  Metal chairs with the woven looking seats, and a glass top table.  It aged relatively well, and I gave it to my parents.

We ended up going with a set from Macy's.  Grove Hill Cast Aluminum set.  We also got 2 matching Chaise loungers and a small side table and the umbrella.  I was coming on here to say, "Don't buy it now, wait till it's on sale," but I noticed they are on sale now.  NEVER PAY FULL PRICE FROM MACY'S.  Just wait a few weeks and they'll have a big sale.  They seem to do it all the time.

Yes - it might be a little more than HD/Lowes, but the quality is so much better.  The big selling point for me is cast aluminum doesn't rust, so even if the finish flakes, it won't rust.  My old set had a few chips on it, and they rusted almost immediately.  We got all our stuff, and a BIG deck box to hold all the cushions for $4K...I think you can get just the table set with 8 chairs for $2K...just depends on how many chairs and what type you want.  They have a ton of different styles on Macy's.

Also answers the riddle "What's Irish and sleeps outside?"

for you brohans that are more in the swc income bracket than the typical look at me i drive two feraryes at once fbg and have nine panama accounts you can tip a five gallon bucket upside down and sit on it and also an old tubing or wire spool works good for a table if you know anyone in the trades ring them up and see if they can help you score one it also looks rustic which is in now so take that to the savings bank

Spend the money and get the swivel rockers compared to the stationary leg chairs.  We split our set and did two swivel rockers and two stationary chairs and have regretted that decision.

I have had to padding chairs and the outdoor fabric.  The pads are nice, but pain to already be putting them away before rain or wind blowing them around.  I prefer the outdoor fabric because its easier to maintain.

We went with 8 stationary leg chairs.  On one hand, I wish we got at least a few swivel rockers because they're so nice to just bounce or recline a little.  On the other hand, when winter comes, I can stack my stationary leg chairs 4-chairs tall, and cover them with 1 cover and they don't take up much room, whereas the rockers can't stack.  Not a big deal if you just leave your stuff out year-round, but we cover all our deck stuff for winter for lack of a big enough shed.

Agree 100% re. outdoor fabric being easier to maintain, but it does eventually fade and break down.  The deciding factor for getting every set we've had and gotten rid of so far has been deterioration of the outdoor fabric, which is why we went with cushions and a deck box this time...we'll see how it goes.

I think I have had my patio set for 4 or 5 years and the outdoor fabric has held up without any damage.  Cold climate, so it comes in over the winter, but if I can get a patio set to last 7-8 years I'd consider that successful.  And would recommend.

I suppose their are different grades, and some may damage easier, but I have been fortunate.

Looking at the chairs, the brand is Kettler. I'll have to check with my wife as to where we bought it. We bought wrought iron. As I said above, it is in great shape, nice and heavy, so it isn't going go get blown around.
