I say Floyd holds steady while Naanee's "breakout" bandwagon just hit a major pot hole. What does this mean for Floyd and Nanaee?
I don't think it effects Floyd much at all.How does this affect Floyd?
It means you should bump them both up on your cheat sheet. What does this mean for Floyd and Nanaee?
I don't know... Is Crayton going to come in a week before the season starts and pick up the offense enough to be on the field to take opportunities from Naanee?I say Floyd holds steady while Naanee's "breakout" bandwagon just hit a major pot hole. What does this mean for Floyd and Nanaee?
I am hear to fill in that pothole because Crayton will have a minimal role as the third receiver on a team that uses their tight end in the slot. He'll be a returner maybe but this has no effect on Naanee.I say Floyd holds steady while Naanee's "breakout" bandwagon just hit a major pot hole. What does this mean for Floyd and Nanaee?
Actually, Floyd (uncharacteristically) dropped two balls against the Saints, if I recall correctly. I don't think Davis has ever dropped a ball as a Charger. (Williams and Tutu have both had some drops this preseason.)For what it's worth from what I saw at the Saints/Chargers preseason game:
Everybody not named Floyd and Naanee were dropping passes left and right and in between. This seems like more of a message to Buster Davis and Jeremy Williams.
This. Crayton is a nice addition to chargers special teams though.Glad the Cowboys got something for him and hopefully this means ogletree is kept.I wasn't sure Floyd was going to be significantly better than Naanee to begin with. I'm quite certain Crayton isn't. He's depth, and an interesting big play threat, but I doubt he sees more than an occasional spot start for SD. For me......Floyd's still the safe play...Naanee's still the value play...Crayton's still the don't play
This shouldn't affect Floyd or Naanee, and may not even affect Davis. It means that Josh Reed won't make the team. It means the Seyi Ajirotutu and Jeremy Williams will not both make the final 53, and maybe neither will.
Crayton was firmly behind Roy Williams as it was. Unless Bryant misses significant time due to injury this year, I don't see how this news affects Williams at all.Now Ogletree? He may get some more playing time now.Bump Roy Williams.
I don't know. I think Crayton was competing with Hurd and Ogletree for a roster spot in Dallas, and it looked like Crayton wasn't going to get it — not because the Cowboys like Bryant a lot (which they do), but because they like Hurd and Ogletree a lot. (Personally, I'm not sure why they like Hurd better than Crayton, except that Hurd's a tiny bit cheaper.)I think this says more about the value of Dez Bryant in Dallas.
hurd plays STs, crayton does not only as a punt returner.plus hurd is younger and for a while he was ahead of austin.crayton also runs his mouth a lot.I don't know. Totally agree. Whomever the idiot is above in this thread that said Crayton isnt any good, knows nothing about actual football. Crayton is a great WR. He may not win you any fantasy football games but he is a great football player. He gives 100% all the time and does whatever he needs to do. He plays outside, slot, returns kicks and has a great attitude. I hate Roy Williams. I wish they would have cut him and kept Crayton but I also really like Ogletree and Hurd.I've always liked Patrick Crayton, I think he's a solid player. I think it's an excellent deal for the SD Chargers. I look at it this way, if you drafted a 7th round wide receiver from the draft, it's not very likely that you'll get a guy as good as Patrick Crayton from it.Personally I think Crayton is better than Roy Williams. I'm actually glad Crayton will get an opportunity to do something somewhere else because unfortunately he was buried in Dallas and I believe he's better than that.
I always though Crayton was at his best when used as a slot type receiver, not a WR2. He has the ability to get open quick off the line, find space over the middle and good hands. The kind of player you want to throw the ball to on 3rd and 4 or even quick hitters inside the 10 yard line.Kevin Acee says he thinks Crayton could be the #2 WR after he learns the offense.
i wouldn't bump up Williams even if Dallas traded away all of their WRs and TEsthey should of traded Williams for the 7th and keep CraytonBump Roy Williams.
Well, I think they want to use Dez Bryant in those situations this year. If he gets hurt, they have a couple guys that could take the responsibility for a game or two but let's face it, if the Cowboys are going to win anything this year, they can't get killed with injuries, nobody can. The Cowboys have loads of talent at WR, that's not what's going to beat us in the end.On some level, I'm glad for Crayton that he's going to get the chance to see what he really has. He's on a team that really doesn't have a proven WR1 this year (or at least most of it) and they're very good at passing it. If he doesn't make an impact here, then he wasn't the player I thought he was. So, I'm glad for him and will be interested to see how he does. It's time for the Dez Bryant era to start in Dallas........he better be good!hate this trade for Dallas. why trade away a solid WR/punt returner for a 7th when you are in a situation to make a Superbowl run
I would think so, too. Naanee is the antithesis of a sure thing. I'm sure SD would love for both Floyd and Naanee to play well enough to have everyone forget about Vincent Jackson, but that seems unlikely and Crayton is the kind of reliable veteran that would have a welcome place in Rivers' passing tree.Kevin Acee says he thinks Crayton could be the #2 WR after he learns the offense.
I agree (well not with the idiot part, but the rest). DAL loses in this deal on two sides... losing a good ST player and fillin WR and keeping a no talent hack. Too bad JJ invested so much in getting ROY--he's obviously a slacker--one decent year in DET and otherwise has been a complete piece o'crep.. DAL should have tried to trade ROY to SD--but I doubt they would get a 7th rounder for him. SD gets a steal. Once Crayton learns the offense I think he could push NaaneeTexasmouth said:Totally agree.
