The Patriots have traded running back Patrick Cobbs to the Pittsburgh Steelers for an undisclosed draft choice.

The team also announced the release of 10 players: LB Monty Beisel, WR Eddie Berlin, QB Corey Bramlet, TE Chris Luzar, WR John Stone, OLB Chad Brown, CB Vernell Brown, DL Eddie Freeman, OLB Jeremy Mincey, CB Eric Warfield.

I'm amazed that Chad Brown couldn't make it with the Pats, especially considering how thin they are at that position.

Cut them some slack, these puds were picked up before last season as part of the Bruschi stroke era.The were bridge solutions, like The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Hank Poteat.

The only name that's a surprise is Mincey. Hopefully he got cut because Mays and Woods are players BB thinks he can develop better.

As for Cobbs he had a good preseason but he got caught in the numbers game. There just isn't a spot for him on this roster. I think he can play in the NFL although I feel he goes down too quickly upon contact to be anything more than a role player.

Chad Brown was ancient but had a good career with the Steelers/Seahawks. Time to get a booth job.
