Wouldn't they be doing that on a screen also? I'm just saying it's seems to be pretty subjective when they can just call anytime a quarterback is tackled for a loss, a sack. It would make it a lot simpler.

You can't block down field while the ball is in the air in the NFL, so the fact that they were indicates it was a run. I believe you can in college if the ball is thrown behind the line.
