Pats Finalizing Trade of Richard Seymour To Oakland (1 Viewer)

  :lmao: :tfp:

Seymour is the best 3-4 end in the league right now. I'm shocked that the Pats would even consider an offer. Gonna have to be big compensation.

D-Mac fantasy owners hoping that he is part of the deal. Imagine D-Mac in the Pats offense. Offense would be better then 2007 season IMO.

HFS!

Per Mike Reiss.Don't know for who yet.
Wow that was unexpected. Wonder what Raiders are giving up.
My guess: their second and third round picks from 2010 through 2016.

Seymour has between 0 and 3 good years left and requires large compensation. Not really shocked by this at all (despite initial HFS!).
on adam twitter page he says Oaklands 1st round pick oin 2011. wow.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Semour's contract is done after this year. Couldn't afford him and Wilfork. Maybe this means they try to re-sign WIlfork? They also have others in line for more money. Dumping Seymour saves them $3.3M against the cap this year.

Given their LB situation, they were expected to have played a lot more 4-3 more than a 3-4 this year anyway. They understand that they need to get younger, and with OAK's pick they should be able to get an impact player.

I agree with that, but he's still on top right now. It's just surprising, however they are getting a good pick for it. They have to many stars to sign all of the them, so getting compensation now makes sense. Do they resign Wilfork now? Or is he a future trade too?

I would assume the Raiders will still be bad next year. It could be a top 10 pick. The Pats are getting old, and need to re-stock with a little youth. Good trade for them. Does this do anything to bump up the Raiders defense. They were great against the pass, and terrible against the run last year. They do play in a pretty awful division and get 4 games against Denver, and KC. This may put them in the middle of the pack as a matchup defense. It probably wouldn't hurt if their offense could score some points.

Jeez...the moment I see a trade involving the Pats and Raiders I immediately imagine Bill Belicheck and Robert Kraft sitting in a room hysterically laughing, and Al Davis looking all bewildered repeatedly asking his coaching staff, "So wait...who'd we get!??!?!"

This move just shows why NE is a half step ahead of other franchises and why Oakland is 1.5 steps behind.

:excited: Raiders get a 4th for Randy, and a throw in pick for Burgess, then give a 1st for Seymore. And the Pats ensure they don't have to see the Raiders in the playoffs for the next 6 years!

More shocking that any of the cuts made yesterday.

So who did Seymour piss off in New England?

Hi Al Davis, Im speaking on behalf of the Seattle Seahawks. Can we trade you Branch for a 2012 1st round pick? Oh wait.....the pats ripped us off too

This does make some sense if they're switching to a 4-3 full time and they really like Brace. Warren/Wilfork inside, with Brace as a backup, and Burgess/Green on the outside works well. Seymour would play inside in a 4-3, and the Pats are already pretty deep there.

Fixed.

Maybe NE is counting on a rookie salary scale in a new contract with the players union by 2011.

Excellent point.

At least now we won't have to hear Pats fans say that Seymour should make the HOF one day. So there's something good out of this.

2011 pick right?I think with the combo of their LB situation and the play of rookies Ron Brace & Myron Pryor it makes more sense to switch to the 4-3

With Weird Al and the Cable guy running things, I'm sure Oaktown is CERTAIN this will be a very late pick in the first.

This is such a typical Patriots move. Trading players for picks is what they do. Why they are trading Richard Seymour, I have no idea!

You people are funny. If any other team that had defensive line problems traded for one of the best DL in the game they would be getting praised no matter what they gave up, but since its the Raiders its automatically a terrible move.
