The New England Patriots signed 43-year-old QB Vinnie Testaverdy on Tuesday. The Pats will be his sixth NFL team.

Matt Cassel is the only other QB on the roster besides Brady. I hope we never have to see him play, and Vinny is no world beater, but I wouldn't call this a bad move.

Vinny is washed up. At this point in his career I would rather have Troy Brown at QB than Vinny.

Even if he instills more confidence and a veteran mentor for Cassel, it is a wise move. With Brady's arm being freshly banged up, anything that helps Cassel works for me.

The timing seems a little odd but this is a move that has been talked about since training camp. The Patriots are always screwing around with the bottom of their roster so I really wouldn't read too much into it. If he can help anywhere it would be with the playcalling. That's an area that the Pats need a lot of improvement in.
