Paul Mokeski Appreciation Thread (now with other awful whities) (1 Viewer)

I always thought the Moke should have gone into boxing. Great reach and he had no chin. How do you knock out a guy who hasn't got a chin? All of your kill shots would just sail harmlessly through the air where his jaw should be, if only he had one. You would completely have to adjust your style facing the Moke.

He high fived me (well I guess it was a low five for him) circa 1986 at the MECCA. Paul Pressey came up to me after him and said something to the effect of "Go wash that hand, kid" :lmao:

The race for highest scoring white (excluding McHale and Bird) between Mokeski and Randy Breuer during the 1988-89 season was scintillating.

Between Mokeski, Randy Breuer, Brad Lohaus, Fred Roberts, Frank Brickowski and Larry Krystkowiak, the Bucks had a decade of BWG awesomeness. Jack Sikma and Danny Schayes were in there too but while they were tall, they were too short on clumsy.

Uwe Blab was pretty good too. I have him as the 28th best white of all time and 3,124th best overall.

Greg Kite has two championship rings
He is the biggest stiff i ever saw play live. I saw the rockets play in the 70's and there was a center that was close but I saw him make a layup so maybe he wasn't worse. I don't think it was mokeski. I saw Kite shoot a ball over the backboard from 5 feet and hit only backboard and miss the rim on a free throw in the same game.

Gotta be Kevin Kunnert.
It may have been. I remember someone fatter with wristbands I think. he was fed a pass inside and made a two handed, underhand layup. Everyone around us laughed. Calvin Murphy was definitely on the team.

This is (at least) a level down, but MD had a 7'1" BWG in the late 90s/early aughts named Mike Mardesich. He chose between Harvard (a fact brought up every time he got into the game by Johnny Holiday) and Gary Williams. Masochist that Big Mike was, he went to MD, where Gary proceeded to scream at him on the bench every time Stevie Francis screwed up on the court.

I remember being in a sports bar the game MD lost to St Johns (the Artest/Boo Williams squad) in the NCAAs. The Terps were getting killed. I was in the bathroom about 50 feet from the bar area and heard, clear as day, someone screaming "Come on Mardesich - dunk the ####### ball!". Come to find out, he had bricked a lay-up. That was Mike's career in a nutshell.
