Peeling hard boiled eggs (1 Viewer)

No ####, I just hard boiled a few to bring to work as a snack. I'm terrible at it too.

Sorry for making you think there was a helpful response when you saw there was a new post.

Tap gently around the 'equator' of the egg with a butter knife. You really just looking to get some small cracking going. Not too hard

Next, roll the egg (gently) on a hard surface along the crack line.

Peel away the cracked egg shell along the equator

Most times the top and bottom shell will fall right off. If not, you can peel (toward the 'poles') the rest off.

First, put them immediately into cold water. Next, crack a small hole into the top of the egg. Put the end with the crack into your mouth causing a complete seal and blow as hard as you can. You will hear a pop - and then peel - works great.

1) Boil until done.

2) Drain water.

3) While eggs are in pan shake back and forth severely cracking the eggs.

4) Poor cold water in pan.

5) After a few minutes of cooling begin peeling.

This is the only consistent method I have found success with.

buy them a four or five days before boiling. something about fresher eggs makes the membrane stick to the egg and is a huge pita to peel.

Add a bit of vinegar and salt to the water before boiling. Don't overcook. Let them cool slowly. Profit.

Put the boiled egg in a cup...put enough water in to cover egg. Cover top of cup rather loosely with hand. Shake cup back in forth over sink real hard for about five seconds. Water will be gone...egg will slip out of egg shell like your mom out of her night gown when she hears I'm in town.

No fail method

Put eggs in a sauce pan

Add cool water to cover the eggs by an inch or so

Add baking soda 1-2t

Bring to a boil

Take off heat, cover and let sit about 10-15 min

Dump hot water and fill with cold water +ice until eggs are cooled down

Perfect eggs that are very easy to peel!

This is the way my wife does it. She usually is making a dozen or 2 deviled eggs and it only takes her a few minutes to peel them all.

I always crack the eggs and soak in water, it seems to help with peeling.

Run cold water on them while peeling.
Wouldn't that take all the fun out of burning your fingers while trying to peel off the hot shell?
Depends on how you like your yolk. If you want then hard boiled so the yolk turns to yellow chalk, sure, peel 'em hot.

But if not, you want to shock them in an ice water bath (over at least cold running water for a minute) to stop them from cooking.

Steam the egg instead of boiling it - freaking shell practically falls off -
Was just going to post this. Recently started steaming for 14 min. Place in ice bath to cool. Shell falls off. No joke. I read the theory is that some of the vapor enters the shell and lubes the egg. It works.
