People who deliberately lie and spread hate (1 Viewer)

I see nothing wrong with starting the thread, nor Tim's criteria. If you look at the list right now, it's a pretty good list.

Biden probably should be nowhere near there, but who am I to quibble? The rest deserve their fate, really. AOC and Soros definitely belong there. Koch should be there, too, if Soros is. That's more of a class divide than anything.

And to comment on the BB/Jayrod little interlude back upthread. I think they're both right. People have latent tendencies towards division and in-group/out-group thinking. We've seen that come to extreme examples in the 20th Century with the death of God and certain leaders' proclivities and tendencies to appeal to a homogeneous group's worst instincts. It's pretty easy to blame each individual and their individual conscience, but groups act differently than individual humans, and politics happen often in groups and by group pressures. It would seem unrealistic to deny that leaders and influencers have an effect on people, and that our best hope is to cling to those with the best of hopes for humanity rather than cynical ends.

Division is real and it is top-down, often adopted by those who can't order chaos in their lives and can't see causes for what they are.

Hence the careers of Hannity, Carlson, Ingram, Bongino, Limbaugh, etc.  I am sure there are some on the left but none that I am aware that are as popular and divisive.

For the guys I listed, it's about funding.  Hannity makes a ton funded by republicans that want voters to be misinformed.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the issues raised in the “how do we get out of this” thread: like many people here, I’m worried about the growing divisions in our society. I don’t have any great solutions. But I thought one way forward might be to realize that there are people out there, in the public arena, who deliberately seek to divide us, to spread anger and hatred around, and that they do this for their own selfish gain, either political or monetary or both. I have decided to identify some of those that I believe fall into this category. In no way is this a complete list, and I will happily add or subtract from it if anyone has suggestions or arguments to make. I have divided this list into two categories: politicians and pundits. In no particular order:

Politicians

Donald Trump

Maxine Waters

Marjorie Taylor Greene

Ihlan Omar

Jim Jordan

Ayanna Presley

Rashida Tliab

Paul Gosar

Matt Gaetz

Lauryn Boebert

Adam Schiff

Tomi Lahren

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez

Joe Biden

Pundits

Tucker Carlson

Don Lemon

Candace Owens

Joy Reid

Tiffany Cross

Sean Hannity

Rachel Maddow

Again this is just a preliminary list, off the top of my head. i will add more later on.

The entire modern liberalism with their race-based wokism is inherently divisive and it is impossible to come together under the policies they promote.

In all seriousness, can you name 3 of the offensive things that fall into this category?

Every news story which has rlanti-white racism embedded in it, which is most of them.

CRT.

FBI and their main focus of targeting rightwing groups.

Prosecution which are based solely on race.  Ironicly the left falsely believes Rittenhouse was found not guilty because he was white.  The absolute truth is, a black man in those same circumstance would never have been charged.

I think there are massive differences between divisive and intending to divide.  Virtually everyone with an opinion now and days is divisive.  Intentionally trying to divide is a much much smaller list and usually the domain of the extreme right or left.

So the only cause of division is via the woke culture?  Ummmm gonna have to disagree.
There can be more than one thing that makes up and points to a root cause.  If I'm making a herringbone diagram woke culture is definitely on there.

ROOT cause.  Not only cause.  As long as we divide the nation by race and tell whites they are inherently evil and hold whites accountable for crime committed centuries ago,  there will be division.  We must start judging and treating all people as equal and put this wokism crap in the dustbin of history where it belongs.

Don’t get me wrong I despise the woke culture and absolutely believe it’s divisive. But in typical Jon fashion he’s leaving out all the divisiveness on the right side and pointing to the left calling it the root cause. I wouldn’t put “woke” as the centerline in the herringbone diagram but it would be on there, as would many other things.

Right and by calling it the root you’ve defined as the main problem. It’s absolutely not.  But it certainly is A problem.

Trump's rise to power was his stance against political correctness.   It was never the other way around.  Trumpism did not cause wokism, Trumpism was a response to wokism.   The left needs to dial back their radical agenda on racial issues, and Trumpism will disappear overnight.

Divisiveness this didn’t start with Trumpism.

Another vote for Dr Death Anthony Fauci.  I mean what's more divisive than singling out family members that cant come over for Christmas. Can you imagine?  Disgusting.

I forgot this was Jon's boogey man.  None of these things are dividing the country to the point you imply.
