Percy Harvin doesn't practice today (1 Viewer)

actually, Tom Pelissero just clarified that no reason was given for Harvin's absence, might be the hip, might not be.

so many offers for this guy i turn down every week - really starting to think i'm gonna take one
take one before vjax is wearing purple.
I think a VJax trade would help Harvin. He did well alongside Rice last season. I think the issue is he might not be cut out to be a No. 1 WR. So having a top talent to take that pressure off him might help him produce. If you drafted him hoping for a Top 20 WR then you'd be SOL. But if you drafted him to be a WR3 with some upside, getting VJax might be exactly what Harvin owners should be looking for. Of course he needs to get on the field first. The guy has missed a ton of time the past six weeks or so.

:deadhorse: Put me in the SOL column. After watching the game it was very clear that FF roster moves had to be made. VJax will most certainly improve his production.

2nd day NO PRACTICE, I was thinking he would have a decent game this week with more time and an embarassing opener, now without him practicing, even if he plays, how effective with no practice???

I pretty much lost my matchup last week due Harvin's no-show performance. Is anyone starting him this week with confidence? I'm highly considering other options like Naanee, Royal, etc.

Harvin is now listed as a game-time decision (based on what the coach said today). Go figure.
He practiced on a limited basis today but despite what Childress said Harvin fully expects to play.

When he was told Childress called him a game time decision by a reporter he just laughed.

Sounds like Childress is just trying to mislead the Dolphins a bit. I fully expect him to play and the matchup isn't bad.

I haven't benched him yet but that's mainly because my league uses return yardage. If we didn't award return pts, then I might consider waiting another week on him to see if Favre looks more comfortable throwing to him.

Yes, because the offensive juggernaut that is the Miami Dolphins are going to go bananas.

Well, this makes my decision on Percy or Collie this week less debatable... Even if he does play, they (Favre and Percy- hell, that entire passing offense) looked so out of sync last week - making it hard to be excited about plugging in a 'healthy' Harvin anyway.

Here's to the Manning bowl being a shoot out...

Percy vs. Mike Williams for me. Rookie's getting the start this week at least.
Same here.
 I've got Percy in two leagues and am debating what to do. In my TD only league I could bench him for Dwayne Bowe, Mike Williams Sea, or Mark Clayton. In the other league my other options are Laurent Robinson, Brandon Floyd, and Josh Morgan. I might leave him in just one league in case he does better. I'll probably stick in Bowe...

FWIW...

Per Rotoworld:

According to Steve Wyche of NFL Network's Total Access, "all indications" are that Percy Harvin (hip) will not only play but start "as a big boost" to the Vikings offense.

Wyche expects Harvin to be "fully equated" into this week's game after being "taken out of the equation" last week. Wyche further explained that Harvin will be used "out wide, in the slot, and as a running back" behind Adrian Peterson in this week's matchup against the Dolphins. The Vikings apparently realize that they have to get the ball in Harvin's hands to be successful on offense. Check back late Sunday morning, but for now Harvin is a fine WR2/3.

Guess I'll plug the little engine that could back into my line-up...

Hmm. Luv Percy when they try to make him a focal point. Dude is a playmaker.

l have Bowe/Harvin and have been leaning towards Bowe...until I read the post after yours. Now I am back on the fence.I won't believe the Vikes are all of sudden weak on offense and I think this week will be an entirely different deal at home. They aren't playing the Saints every week. They will be fired up and pissed off.

No disrespect to Mr. Wyche...........how does he know the Vikes game plan for the week??? Harvin didn't pratice for 2 days, and was limited today. I know he will start, but to me the rest is speculation. Lets hope he can catch more than 1 pass this week.

Yea I heard this last week too.

He probably talked to members of the Vikings' coaching staff. It does make sense, though. The Vikings have to figure out a way to get Harvin the ball more creatively. Right now, he can't just line up outside and run crisp routes and beat coverage. He's still growing and learning as a receiver. I think the more creative the Vikings can get with Harvin the more successful he and their offense will be.

We all know that of course with Rice out, that's what they hope......but last week being SO out of sync, with Farve missing time, and Percy missing time, and this week hardly practiced, it won't happen this week. I hope he does, so I can put him back in going forward.

Might be time to buy low fellas.

An owner in one of my PPR dynasty leagues posted on the message board a couple hours ago:

"Will trade Percy Harvin for any 2012 1st rd pick. First one offered gets him."

My teams are usually pretty good, so Harvin in PPR for a 2012 mid-or-later 1st was a no brainer for me. I took the deal.

I would do that as well....I think he'll have a great year, it's a long season, but Percy and Brett aren't in sync yet, be patient.

From article on NFL.com: Childress said the team would re-evaluate Harvin on Sunday morning and could sign wide receiver Logan Payne off the practice squad as a replacement. The Vikings have just four receivers on their roster

I guess I'll stick with Bowe in the one league. Now I might also have to figure out who to put in the other league....

Chilly's a weird dude that likes to play games rather than develop a good game plan. I think Harvin is fine and chalk up Chilly's quotes to be gamesmanship. If there really was a good chance that Harvin is out then Chilly would certainly be more tight-lipped about the situation.

Id avoid him this week. He may blow up.

But he looked bad last week, way out of sync, and now has missed more time. yet somehow they have fixed things and he will be a big part of it?

I think they need him to, but just not so sure Id count on it enough to start him this week.
