Percy Harvin doesn't practice today (1 Viewer)

Id avoid him this week. He may blow up.But he looked bad last week, way out of sync, and now has missed more time. yet somehow they have fixed things and he will be a big part of it?I think they need him to, but just not so sure Id count on it enough to start him this week.
I kind of have the same policy with sho nuff as I do with hollywood. If hollywood supports a candidate, I vote the opposite. I'm playing Percy this week with confidence.

Ouch, that's cold Arctic (get it, Arctic, cold??).FWIW, I'm starting him too this week, with little confidence.

I posted this in the Baskett thread but thought it was also helpful for Harvin owners as well. I'm giving serious thought to cutting bait with Harvin. My league has tight roster limits and I don't know if I can take the chance of having someone who may not be healthy for weeks (if at all the rest of this season) taking up a valuable roster spot.

The Pioneer Press wrote today that Harvin's injury appears to be very serious. My guess is Harvin doesn't play this week and then the Vikings hope he'll be better after the Week 4 bye. Of course, they know full well how bad a hip injury can be considering Rice is still out with one he suffered last season so who knows when Harvin will be healthy again.

If Harvin sits this week they need someone to play WR since they're down to only Berrian, Camarillo and Lewis. Baskett probably can pick things up relatively quickly and be useful in certain plays if need be.

Big thanks for sharing this news. Big bummer for me as there goes another one of my picks off to bustville.

To be clear - it's just my speculation with regard to the implications of Baskett being signed. I could be wrong. But given what the Pioneer Press wrote about Harvin's injury today it's my belief the Vikings signed Baskett because they don't expect Harvin to play this week and it's possible the injury could be one that lingers. I think Harvin owners in smaller leagues or ones with tight roster limits have a decision to make this week if there are productive WRs available on the WW.

per Tom Pellisero, beat writer for Vikes:

Uh oh. Per Childress, WR Percy Harvin is absent today because of a migraine.

Vikings coach Brad Childress revealed Wednesday that Percy Harvin was not at practice due to a recurrence of his migraines.Harvin's hip injury is just a blip on the radar screen. The Vikings believed they could prevent further migraines after diagnosing them as a byproduct of sleep apnea during the preseason. Apparently, they were wrong. Harvin almost won't play in Week 3, and it's possible he could be shut down for multiple weeks if the latest migraine is severe. Stay tuned for updates. Sep. 22 - 3:08 pm et

Harvin's a physical wreck. How many practices has he missed dating back to the start of camp? Those of you hanging onto him I wish you the best. I'm cutting bait with him this week. Love his talent and potential but the vibes are just horrendous for him.

Am I missing something. Pretty sure these things don't last that long.

This seems premature. Wasn't Harvin a GTD many weeks last year due to the migraines, while only missing one game in the end? Tampa Mike and Harvin's hip will keep him on my bench this week, but for now at least, I'm not as concerned about the migraines. They come and go; we knew that when we drafted him. The hip could use the time off anyway, I'm sure.

I'm with you. I had a couple sleep studies recently. Sometimes people have to go in to get their CPAP machines adjusted. They know Harvin has a bad case of sleep apnea, maybe they just have to adjust the machine some more. And I wouldn't be surprised if he still occasionally got migraines for a while even after having the machine going alright. It probably would take a little while for him to fully heal.

Or maybe the sleep apnea isn't in fact the cause of his migraines at all. This situation in minnesota reminds me of Seattle a couple of years back when wr's there were dropping like flys.

Any chance he ends up on the IR for either the hip or the migraines? I can't afford the roster spot for a weekly GTD guy, but I'd love to stash him on the IR if there is a chance they put him there in the next few days.

Any chance it plays out that way?

Sure there's chance. Hes got a bum hip and migraines. But he also just played with a bum hip and has played through migraines before, so I don't see him being shut down unless the Doctors absolutely recommend this.. I believe Vikes have a bye week coming up, Maybe he just needs some time to get right.

Harvin's back at practice today. Vikings beat writers saying that he looks like he's moving well and at full speed.

Frustrating to own this guy, starting him 3rd week in a row now.
Ditto. I'm going to give him one more shot because this matchup is way too good. If he stinks it up or gets hurt again this week then I'll be done. I'll drop him during the Vikings' bye week. But he is definitely frustrating right now.

I owned him last year. Seems like he was always questionable and always played. In fact, some of his best scoring games happened when he was a GTD.

I enjoyed having Percy on my team, but you have to keep a years supply of maalox on hand all season long.

Thanks for the update. :lmao:
Ditto! I wasn't able to watch the first part of the game last Sunday, but 5 catches in the 1st quarter has me optimistic!
They were focusing on him in the first quarter wtih ok results. Then he aggravated his hip and looked limited the rest of the way.I was fully prepared to bench him before today but now that it looks like he'll play and how can you bench him against Detroit who have maybe the worst pass defense in the NFL?

I know what you mean. I still have him benched in a couple leagues but might start him if he goes for sure. My concern, though, is if he starts out fine and again the hip starts bothering him during the game, limiting him the rest of the way.It reminds me of one year when Randy Moss was dealing with some kind of injury and his status was a question mark most of the season. There were games where he would start but then not catch anything. And I think there were a couple times he only caught one or two passes, but they happened to be TDs...

If he practices in full today and tomorrow I'll roll the dice and start him.

If he's limited I'll have a decision to make.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but sounds like the offense is a mess if you read between the lines of what Favre has to say..Here are some quotes.

Favre on the Vikings offense: "If I sat here and told you that I knew exactly what we’re doing right now I’d be lying."

More Favre: "A lot of work is left and it will be an ongoing process until we have our unit how we want to go about things.”

"I’m not really sure who I’m throwing to on particular plays,"...

Take it for what's it worth..

Of the hip, Harvin said, "A lot of people said I looked normal. It feels good. It gets fatigued at times. But with treatment, keep lifting and getting strong, I should make a full recovery." Harvin said the migraine attack came on Monday, but he went home Wednesday and "woke up energized and ready" for Thursday's practice. "I wouldn't call [the migraine] a setback," said Harvin. "I'm actually happy" because it had been a month since the last episode.

I'd like to know where juddzulgad got those quotes, particularly the one about not knowing who he is throwing to. I Googled the quotes but got nothing.

I think I might keep him benched this week and play him again after their week 4 bye if he doesn't have any setbacks...That's good to hear about the migraine, though. :lmao:

Love Percy, but I'm benching him until he proves healthy and the Vikings show some life on offense (for either Tampa Mike or Demaryius).

I wish I had those options. I'm looking at Josh Morgan, Laurent Robinson, or Brandon Lloyd in one league...
