Unfortunately most have probably already had their auction draft. There has been only one year that this article was out in time for my auction draft and it was great.

Thought I was having one, but WRs continued to go for 10-20% more than I had them valued. Got Vick for 16% of budget, Dallas Clark for 5%, McFadden for 17%, Felix Jones for 12%, Hightower for 11%, DeAngelo for 8%, and ended up with Devin Hester as my #2 receiver.

I have done about 5 mock auctions and just completed my two local live auctions. No such thing as a perfect auction because you just cannot predict what other owners are going to bid for certain guys. You just need to be prepared to buy value when it appears.

Perfect Auctions Rules:

1. Wait for a cheaper QB. Target guys like Stafford, Roethlesberger, Ryan.

2. Wait for a cheaper TE. Target Graham, Hernandez, Gostkowski, Pettegrew, Cook.

3. Commit to $1 at kicker and defense. Try to swip the Patriots after about 40 players auctioned.

4. Spend the bulk your money on your starters at RB, WR.

Here is my perfect auction team with a $200 cap:

RB R Mendenhall $35

Wait...I missed something. There's no such thing as a perfect auction but then you lay out your 4-point perfect auction rules that do not include a top tier QB or TE?

Any competitive league will have McFadden and Felix Jones and Brandon Jacobs and Matt Ryan going for WELL in excess of that - even a 10 teamer. Probably an 8 teamer. Just to get nittier, Graham, D-Jax, and Stafford are going to go for more than that as well.
