While so much is being made of the upcoming NFL Draft, I was wondering if you guys had any ideas concerning free agency/trades?

Veterans almost always make more of an impact on an NFL team than a rookie does, and from what I understand, the presiding judge over the labor/antitrust case could order Free Agency and roster movement to open at any time. Pick any one of, or a few of the following vets and share your ideas, or the rumors that you've heard concerning them...

Does DeAngelo Williams depart from CAR? What are his possible landing spots?

Does Steve Smith (CAR) get traded?

Who will Donovan McNabb line up under center for this coming season?

Does Ronnie Brown find new life with a new team?

Will Michael Bush find his way out of Oakland and into fantasy relevance?

Will Sidney Rice become the WR1 of a new team? Will he ever return to 2009 form?

Does anyone take a shot on divas Moss or Owens?

Where is the most likely landing spot for Orton? Kolb?

Whats to become of Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards? Will either or both return to the Jets?

Where will James Jones resurface?

Will Vincent Jacksons' Franchise tag be valid, and is he definitely a Charger this season?

Will Matt Hasselbeck be added as a veteran stop-gap for another team?

Will Carson Palmer retire, play for Cin, or play elsewhere this season?

And the Ravens McGahee and Bulger?

All interesting story lines that could serve to move players up or down in drafts late this summer. What say you?

Very interesting off-season this year because of teams drafting before free agency. Normally a team like Arizona or San Fransisco would've already had the opportunity to make a run at Kevin Kolb, or sign Marc Bulger, etc., and the outcome of that would obviously effect how quarterback is addressed in the draft. If you're an NFL team this year, you can't count on getting Kolb or DeAngello Williams whenever free agency/trading begins, so how will these players? What if the top contenders for Kolb's services end up addressing QB in one fashion or another via the draft? It might end up killing his market and mean that he's stuck in Philadelphia for another year. Same for all of the other big name free agents or trade targets - overall, I think it diminishes the market for their services, and there's a higher than normal chance that they return to the team they were from (assuming they are wanted there).

Just something to think about because it's going to have a huge effect on how free agency plays out. And the draft, for that matter.

I won't answer all of these, but I have strong takes on some:DeAngelo: He will be out of Carolina - I think he lands in MIA so they don't have to spend a high pick on a RB. MIA has stated they want a "home run hitter", which DeAngelo is. I am not sure their is that type of RB in the draft....more workhorse type RB's in Ingram, LeShoure, and Williams.McNabb: Yes, he will be starting somewhere and my thought is to the Vikings for a 2012 4th rounder....which will let Webb + rookie mature until they feel comfortable with starting one of the two.Sidney Rice: He will return to 2009 form because his skills are too good not to. As long as he ends up with an average QB, he'll be top 15 again. Having watched every NFL game Sidney has ever play in, I could see his elite skills even as a rookie. He reminds me of Fitzgerald in a way in that all you have to do is get the ball close to him and he'll come down with it. His throwing target radius is amazing. If he ends up a Ram, his potential is top 10. If he stays with the Vikings, I think he'll be top 20. Skill-wise he is elite.Orton: Will stay in DenverKolb: Will be a CardinalHolmes: Will stay a JetEdwards: Will not be a JetJames Jones: Will become a Redskin

I think we can make a long(er) list of WR's and RB's in limbo....

If this thing drags on, it seems to me like a lot of players won't get to shop themselves to other teams and might wind up taking short term deals to stay.

Also, Why would a team spend big money on a Braylon when there are so many other WR's on the market? Breaston? Ocho? TO? MSM? Moss? K Walter? L Moore? on and on.

I know the Jets love Both Braylon and Holmes. Normally I would say the cap would force them to lose one of them but, now I really wonder.

If I'm the Miami GM, I'd go strong after DeAngelo Williams, Malcom Floyd and a TE (Kevin Boss would fit nice, but there are a lot of good quality TEs possibly available in free agency I'd be happy with).

Miami's owner has already shown a willingness to spend some $$$ in FA and likes to make a splash. These are three guys that could come in right away and make an impact and would really make the draft much more manageable.

On a slightly different topic -- does anyone else think there is a decent possibility that the judge comes back in 2 weeks and lifts the lockout until a new agreement is in place, opening up free agency just in time to have a few signings before the draft. Or is that totally out of the question???

I think that it is fairly unlikely, that Judge Susan Nelson lifts the lockout. I live in the Minneapolis area and they had a legal expert on the radio yesterday who was evaluating the case.....from his knowledge of Judge Nelson, she isn't likley to be very proactive with this dispute. The legal expert went on to say that there will not be a quick resolution to the lockout/CBA and to expect a long drawn out process.

Sad to say but Michael Bush isn't going anywhere. Not because of his recent transgressions, but because the Raiders assigned a 1st and 3rd round tender and will keep him in Oakland and expects to be a restricted free agent under a new CBA because of his broken leg he will only have 3 years of service.

Does DeAngelo Williams depart from CAR? What are his possible landing spots?--stays in Charlotte

Does Steve Smith (CAR) get traded? --no

Who will Donovan McNabb line up under center for this coming season?--Minnesota

Does Ronnie Brown find new life with a new team?--only as part of another RBBC (AZ is my early call)

Will Michael Bush find his way out of Oakland and into fantasy relevance? --nope

Will Sidney Rice become the WR1 of a new team? Will he ever return to 2009 form?--WR1 or 1a, full on beast mode.

Does anyone take a shot on divas Moss or Owens? --If so, signed late, low dollars, 1 year deals

Where is the most likely landing spot for Orton? Kolb?--AZ, SEA or SF

Whats to become of Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards? Will either or both return to the Jets?--Holmes tendered a 1 & 3, Edwards is gone

Where will James Jones resurface?--Buffalo, KC, SF or WAS

Will Vincent Jacksons' Franchise tag be valid, and is he definitely a Charger this season?---tough call, I think he'll be a UFA and would get paid elsewhere

Will Matt Hasselbeck be added as a veteran stop-gap for another team?--Either tutoring a QB in SEA or a backup on another team

Will Carson Palmer retire, play for Cin, or play elsewhere this season?-retire

And the Ravens McGahee and Bulger?--both gone. McGahee is a tandem back at best and Bulger to SF
