phillies v marlins (1 Viewer)

I wouldn't stay by the stadium. While it's convenient if you're goin to the game, there isn't much to do there at night unless you want to go to the bar connected to the stadium. Might be cooler to stay in center city and take Septa to and from the stadium.

that would work. any particular hotel youd recommend?

Stadium Holiday Inn is a block away, but that's the only thing it's close to.
Make sure to take the tunnel that runs from the Holiday Inn to the stadium.
Yea...I had no idea area around stadium sucked. I'll stay in center city and take public transit. How horrible of an experience is this going to be for an oppossing teams fan? In my limited exp. philly fans are the absolute worst I've met. BUT that might not be the case in their home territory. Thoughts?

I'm a partial Phillies season ticket holder (I'm a Yankees fan) and I have a real love/hate relationship with Phillies fans. For the most part, their core fan base is great. But those are the people who lived through the Rico Brogna, Robert Person, Andy Ashby, Kevin Stocker salad days. Those people are great to talk to; particularly about the Phils. With them winning though...I'm seeing more and more jabronis up there that would be more at home at the 700 level of an Eagles game. Tickets are expensive enough that you're really keeping alot of the real trouble makers out (back in the day you could get Phillies tickets in packages of hot dogs)....but when some of these guys get enough liquid courage in them....they tend to spout off....especially if they are losing. I've been to 16 ballparks around the country...and their worst is no worse than any other. They do seem to have more of them though.

Alright good info here. I've been to about the same number of away games for Canes football and Marlins baseball having never had an issue. But at the Nats park I've had run ins (verbal) with Phillies fans just about everytime I go. Wife will be at the games with me and just wanted to make sure this wasn't going to be a disaster. Thanks again brother.

Pay moneu for a cab, forget taking Septa to the games, it's jammed pack.

Just my personal opinion, I'd rather spend the extra cash on a car than septa.

I'm originally from the area so don't really know many hotels...but stayed at the Omni after a wedding last summer. Nice hotel. I think it ran us $150/night with the wedding discount. If you're a Marlins fan, I doubt people will be messing with you too much like they would a Mets or Yanks fan. Septa to the stadium can get packed...but its no worse than taking the red line to a Cubs game in Chicago. I usually drive to the games since I lived out in the S.Jery burbs, but the few times I took Septa from Center City to the game, I didn't think it was too bad.Have fun

I was at opening day down there last year and the Zimmerman homerun game later in the season. It was funny to ride the subway back after the Zimmerman game. Nats fans were all abuzz and Phillies fans didn't say much. That opening day was a fiasco though.
