Phillip Rivers (1 Viewer)

Didn't see too many threads on Rivers. Looked very good tonight against an above average defense. It looks like Marty took the cuffs off him and let him throw.

With that defense, solid runnng game and Gates - anyone think he could develop into a must start QB this season? I see him as a great #2 if you can get him with the potential to take over as a #1 as the year goes on.

whats the outlook from fellow owners/observers?

I have him locked up next year as well - it seems that most QBs that can spend a few years learning on the bench do much better when they finally get their shot. Seems to be the case for Rivers so far.

Rivers looked the same as he's looked all season. He finally got 30+ attempts. I wouldn't expect that to be an every-week occurrence, but he is very poised, accurate, and intelligent.

If you look at Schottenhiemer's career, he just loves to run a lot more than pass. When his teams are most successful, there's a serious imbalance there favoring the run. I think that probably caps Rivers' fantasy value to some degree. Of course, Marty is 63 years old now and you would think he will retire soon.

I don't think Rivers will have to pass too much to beat SF.

But tonights game against the defending champs was awesome.

I just acquired him in a trade, I got Rudi J and Rivers for Ronnie Brown and Grossman.

At first I thought I was taking a huge downgrade at QB, but I think Rivers might have the goods.

Lots of favorable reviews of Rivers - where do you project him to end up in the rankings the end of theyear -

I say somewhere around 15th - right in the middle of the pack which is not bad in his first full year of starting. You could be looking at a top 10-12 ranking (starting worthy) in 2007.
