Philly DBs (1 Viewer)

If Dawkins is one starting S, who will be the other, Considine or Mikell?

If either grabs the starting job, I think they can post decent tackle numbers and be a sleeper type DB3/4.

My draft is Saturday, I doubt big Reid will make it known, so maybe some Philly folk can lend a fellow Keystone stater a hand.

While I am asking, whats the deal with McGowan in CHI, is he sure-fire starter? Is he expected to post solid numbers like the previous players at his position? Is he a health/injury risk?

Lastly, Kenny Phillips(NYG), starter soon or not? I've heard great things but he isnt starting yet.

Maybe you noticed, but I am keying on DBs :-)

thanks for any info.

I believe Mikell is going to start in Philly.

McGowan and Phillips are both starting. McGowan is relatively unheralded, but could have sneaky value.

Mikell is definitely the man. McGowan is probably safe; he sat with an injury last week but hasn't been demoted. The injury deal has always been a concern with him, though. Phillips didn't start Monday night, but has gotten enough snaps with the ones that he should be the guy on opening weekend.

Mikell is MUCH better than Considine. I wouldn't be surprise if he ends up sliding over to Dawkins' spot when Dawkins hangs 'em up.

Is Dawkins showing any signs of slowing down? Is this his last year?
He's slowing down - but is still an impact player. I don't think this will be his last year.
Agree but if Mikell plays well and Demps comes along it will be his last year......as an Eagle (going by the F.O.'s track record)

I think Dawkins is above the usual treatment, since he's been so good so long, and I think there's a step down to those guys right now. They use him in such a special way, he's not a fungible MLB in JJ's scheme.

I don't. Consider how they treated Trotter twice and H. Douglas. Will be interesting to see if they push Dawk and McNabb out the door after this year. And FWIW- rumor is that Considine could end up getting cut. Leaving- Dawk, Mikell, Demps and probably JR Reed. (sorry, no link)

Considine stinks - I've said that since I've seen him. He's a mess.Mikell is the play by far and he's been laying serious wood all preseason.

Demps will make the team as a KR.

Why do you think Phillips is already starting? This is John Clayton's answer as of yesterday:
If they really needed him, Kenny Phillips could probably start now. He's got good range and speed. But they don't need to rush him. They have Michael Johnson and Sammy Knight, so they could put Phillips in packages and let him grow slowly. Still, I'd be surprised if he's not starting by mid-October. He's an impact rookie and will show it.

The big difference is that LB, and to some extent, DE have always been treated as fungible, but not the safety spot. I think Dakwins is a future Hall of Famer, and the other two guys clearly aren't. It depends on how well they play. If they continue to play at a high level, there's really no question, in my mind, they'll be back. You also need consider how they've treated those two in the past, and Westbrook this season, etc.

Safety isn't treated any differently. Name all the guys that started next to Dawkins since Reid has been here. I'll start you off with Blaine Bishop.

Against the Jets, he entered half way through the 2nd quarter, like a 2nd teamer. Seems it's premature to call him a starter.

Had my draft this weekend, took McGowan, K Phillips and Mikell, and added Reed Doughty very late. We start 2.

If 2 pan out, I think I will be fine.

LB: Willis, Ruud, Hawk, Thomas Davis, Leber

DL: J Taylor(looks like he will be okay in a few weeks), Peppers, Will Smith, Dwayne White

start 2 of each position.

Its a NFC only league.
