Phrases/terms that need to be retired immediately (2 Viewers)

This has been addressed. I hate "hubby" even more than "my hubby." I believe Early 10 was a big fan of this.
 
I have heard this used a ton lately and not just for Romney, but pretty much anyone who is born into wealth. It's getting pretty bad so it is time to retire:

"... was born on third and thought he hit a triple."

Seems pretty accurate in some cases, but it's beyond worn out.
 
"better off than you were 4 years ago" as a presidential decision maker. Many times, things being better or worse have nothing to do with any action the President can or does take.

House fraus who are addicted to the innerwebz have a whole lexicon that pisses me off.
 
More of a sound than a word or phrase .... radio commercials that use police sirens or train whistles as a "hook" to get your attention while your driving. Not cool :no: .

Someone just used "hubs". :getarope:

Student testing? "Let me be clear: Success should be judged by results, and data is a powerful tool to determine results."

Iran? "Let me be clear: Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile activity poses a real threat, not just to the United States, but to Iran's neighbors and our allies."

Auto bailouts? "Let me be clear: The United States government has no interest in running GM."

The president takes the phrase everywhere.

He needs a new phrase or writer someone who can advise him "let me be clear" we are tried of this old song and dance phrase

Interesting. Aside: Do you recall Bowden going off about how Adrian McPherson was better than Charlie Ward in every conceivable way? That is, pretty much before McPherson had imploded and shown that he was about as good as Chris Rix. I'm trying to find a record of him saying something like that, but can't find it. I swear this happened.
 
What I find astounding is that there are items in this thread that you would like removed from use and I have never heard used. I can't be the only one(I am Canadian though)

 
Double Down - For the past month, nary a talking head on the teevee news can go three sentences without uttering this phrase.
 
Energize the base. Apologies if it's already been mentioned. Following, and treating, presidential campaigns like they're football games is a little creepy to me.
