Phrases/terms that need to be retired immediately (3 Viewers)

man-cave. Decent concept, but no reason to give it a special namealso:man-cation
man-anything needs to stop. There was a time in this country when a man's home was his castle. Now he's being banished into the dark recesses of the basement and having it referred to as a cave. Time to take back your manhood, folks.
I agree with mancave, but what do you call it then besides the best room in the house?

Maybe its just me, but I associate den with ground/first floor of the house, mancave with basement type area of the house.

Yeah, I don't get the He-Man Woman Haters Club angle that this has taken on.

Revolutionary.

Basement is better than mancave, there should just be a better word...Ive had basements since I was lighting matches in them when I was 7. Still waiting on my first "mancave"

Are you aware of THE history though?Ohio St officially changed their name to "The Ohio State University" to distinguish itself from Ohio university.

So I give them a pass, even though they are dooshy about it.

The "State" wasn't enough? I call BS. No way anyone who matters to either University would get them confused.

Agree w/Kee here ... adding THE to differentiate is dooshier than THE itself.

I'm trying to bring back "rumpus room."

The Ohio State University has been the school's legal and official name since like 1890. The word "The" being used by players and whatnot began when a legal battle started over OU's patent on the word Ohio. Here is one simple link concerning the lawsuit that followed:My link

Pretty sure that is an urban legend.

Thank you. But I still don't think this is when it became en vogue to emphasize the "The". I was hearing it well before 1995.

fishing, trolling, troll is so common in the SP these days. I'm not sure which is more common, the phrase or the act of

So I didn't get the details right, but my point was they are actually called THE OSU. So why retire a phrase that is the actual name of the school and why would we lump that in with schools that don't have "the" in their name?

Can I get a ruling on "with all that said" ?If you are going to go on some long diatribe and close with "with all that said" you could have just saved us both some time and started your speech with everything after "with all that said."

"Supersized". Unless you are McDonalds, stop it.
Yes.We have a VP who uses this. "We're going to take that idea and supersize it, which will bring in tons of revenue"He also likes "judo move". So he's doing a lot of judo moves to supersize deals.
