Pick #9 Discussion (1 Viewer)

Got 9 spot non ppr. Would love mcfadden or CJ but dont think either will be there. Really want best RB here but not stretching for Forte or others so will take Brees or Brady then lynch bc he is the guy getting carries which is a requirement for my RB 1

Im assuming 12 team since you didnt specify? If you arent interested in forte/mjd I think the Shark move is going Brady/Gronk (or Brees/Graham if your a woman) in the 1/2.Gives you a distinct advantage over everyone in your league, take best available in the 3rd and compliment in the 4th, so either RB/WR or WR/RB.

10 team, i got a shot at gronk or graham in 3rd so will not take that early in 2nd. Could pair j charles with lynch or forte but both could just as likely finish 20 th as 10 th or better. Its no mans land and im unsold on all rb options other than mcfadden there

Good luck with that, theres no way Gronk or Graham make it out of the 2nd let alone to a late 3rd even in a 10 team. But being a 10 man league definitely means theres tons of wiggle room in the 3rd-8th rounds.

So do people really value guys like Chris Johnson and Darren McFadden over Drew Brees??
yupI'd rather take a potential top 5 RB than blow an early pick on a QB and play catch-up the rest of the draft. Especially with all the QB values later. Look at the top 10-12 RBs...

I just mocked this (12 teamer PPR) and am pleased with results (although not sure how Brady fell to me as Megatron, Mcfadden, Rogers and Brees drafted before)

Brady - QB

SJAX - RB

Nicks - WR

S. Smith (Car) - WR

Mcgahee - RB

Bowe - WR

Wayne- WR

Spiller - RB

Big Ben - QB

Gresham - TE

Isaaih Peade (sp?) - RB

Ronnie Brown - RB

Gostkowski - K

Vereen - RB

DET - D - DEF

Live draft about to start, post results later.

Wish I had a true RB1, but ill get over it, was able to draft every sleeper on my board that I could fit on my roster.

QB: Tom Brady, Matt Schaub

RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Reggie Bush, Ben Tate, Rashard Mendenhall, Rashad Jennings

WR: Greg Jennings, Stevie Johnson, Jeremy Maclin, Lance Moore, Mike Williams (TB), Danny Amendola, Davone Bess

TE: Rob Gronkowski, Greg Olsen

Flex: Probably Lance Moore week 1 against the fins, Rashad Jennings if MJD holds out or is held out week 1.

Picking 9th in my main league (12 team PPR), 1 qb/2 rb/3 wr/1 te/1 flex. Every mock I have done if I take Calvin (if he falls) or 1 of the big 3 QB's I don't like the make up of the rest of my team so I am locking into going RB/RB. If Dmac or CJ2k falls I am all over them, if they are gone I am giving serious consideration to Matthews, not sure Matthews makes it back to me in the 2nd.

Is this a PPR league? If so, I like your team a lot. If not, it's still solid.

Just pulled #9 in a 10 team PPR and agree with bolded.Hoping to land two of the following...

Brady/Brees, McFadden, Johnson, Graham

Forte, Murray and Peterson are probably the next options but not thrilled with getting any of them. May look at Jones before them.

Anybody complete a draft from the #9 spot? Is so, can you post it?

I draft this week and while I have done mocks, would love to see what some of you drafted.

Specifically, I am interested in 12 team PPR but any drafts from the 9 spot should help.

Thanks.

I found the 9 spot in a 12 teamer to be pretty good...a lot of value finds its way to you if you sit back and let it.

I had my draft on Monday night and my toughest decisions were in the first round (CJ2K or Forte) and third round (take Harvin and hope Martin falls to the 4th, or take Martin and see what WR remains). Receivers flew off the board insanely fast...after an initial QB flurry, they sat. TE value was there all draft. Taking Peyton Manning in the 7th was nice value, but I felt compelled to immediately take a strong backup.

PPR...1 QB, 2RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST

1. (9) Chris Johnson

2. (16) Julio Jones

3. (33) Percy Harvin

4. (40) Doug Martin

5. (57) Demaryius Thomas

6. (64) Aaron Hernandez

7. (81) Peyton Manning

8. (88) Robert Griffin III

9. (105) Mark Ingram

10. (112) Michael Crabtree

11. (129) Brandon LaFell

12. (136) Mikel LeShoure

13. (153) Randall Cobb

14. (160) Owen Daniels

15. (177) Stephen Gostkowski

16. (184) New England

17. (201) Kendall Hunter

More tales from the 9 Spot. I was shocked that CJ2K fell to me. I think the value at the 9 pick is RB. You are just early enough to avoid some of the pitfalls of this year's crop of RBs. Plenty of WRs to wait for if you go the RB-RB route. The QBs actually fall to you pretty advantageously as well. I had the choice between my top two coming into the draft, Matt Ryan or Phillip Rivers. I went with the guy with most weapons. The only negative I found was TE. There just wasn't a good time to pull the trigger on a good TE. I was really discouraged with where Pettigrew and Davis (who I was targeting) went. Other than that, i think i have a pretty competitive team.

12 team, PPR, 2 RB, 2 WR, Flex RB/WR/TE K D QBs get 6 points per pass TD

QB: Ryan, Freeman

RB: CJ2K, D Murray, Ridley, Gerhart, D. Thomas

WR: Steve Smith, H. Nicks, Harvin, Amendola, K. Wright, M. Massaquoi (my super deep super sleeper pick of the year)

TE: Celek

K: Gostkowski

D: Lions

drafted from the 9 slot last night in a 12 team QB/RB/WR/WR/TE/2 Flex (R/W/T)... it's PPR but RBs only get .5

1. McFadden

2. CJ2K

3. Nicks

4. Harvin

5. Vjax

6. Maclin

7. DeAngelo

8. Cutler

9. M. Bush

10. Gresham

11. Cook

12. Alshon

13. Cobb

14. D. Thomas

15. Taiwan

16. Bilal Powell

Could've had Romo over Vjax or Rivers over Maclin... or Vernon, Pettigrew, Witten over Maclin

Drafted tonight and I am pretty happy and like what I have "on paper".

Did a lot mocking and basically got a lot of the players I had targeted.

12 team

PPR

TD's =6

QB TD's = 4 (passing only)

By round;

Mcfadden (Didn't think I would get him. Planned on Forte was going to pass on Brees given that Mcfadden and CJ2k were gone as was Brady and the other usual suspects)

SJax (TARGET - might have been a reach but he should get 300 carries. Had contemplated Lynch or FJax)

Nicks (TARGET)

S. Smith (TARGET)

Eli (TARGET)

B Lloyd - (I reallly liked Stevie Johnson and it would have been a tough choice but SJ was drafted right before - I am really high on SJ this year but feel good about Llyod as my primary Flex)

Hillis (Didn't think he'd last this long)

Pettigrew (was the 8th TE off the board)

Michael Bush (I had targeted him thinking I was going to have Forte with my #1 but a good value pick in my opinion at this spot)

Jay Cutler (Could have taken Luck, Alex Smith or Flacco)

Eddie Royal (Was on my radar to pick late)

Taiwan Jones (handcuff Mcfadden)

Mike Goodsen (andcuff Mcfadden)

Janikowski (had Sbas last ear, LOVED it)

Buffalo (playing Jets week # 1 - crap shoot pick)

1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1PK, 1DST

6pt passing TDs, no ppr

12 team

QB: Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck

RB: Darren McFadden, Fred Jackson, DeAngelo Williams, Cedric Benson, Rashad Jennings, Rashard Mendenhall

WR: Larry Fitzgerald, A.J. Green, Miles Austin, Sidney Rice, Greg Little

TE: Brandon Pettigrew

PK: Jason Hanson

1st year of a new 12 team PPR keeper league with standard scoring from the 9 spot thru 12 rounds.

Start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE flex, 1st/TE flex, 1 K, 1 D/ST

1. Calvin Johnson, WR1 – He dropped to me because 4 QBs picked in the 1st 8 picks.

2.  Steven Jackson, RB9– MJD, Martin, & Lynch were considered

3. Victor Cruz, WR9 – Roddy, Nicks, & Harvin were available

4. Reggie Bush, RB19 – Peterson went 1 pick ahead of me.

5. Torrey Smith, WR23 – Drafted him a round ahead of his ADP because I think he’s in for a big year

6. Brandon Pettigrew, TE 5 – Also took him a round ahead of his ADP. Top 4 TEs were gone after 3rd round

7. Jay Cutler, QB13 – I was the last team to draft a QB. Goober that took Brady in the 1st took Rivers in the 7th.

8. Peyton Hillis, RB31

9. Ben Roethlisberger, QB16

10. Greg Little, WR41

11. Roy Helu Jr., RB45

12. Kendall Wright, WR48 – I like him for his keeper potential

We can keep 2 players next year at the price of 2 rounds lower than the round they were drafted. No keepers allowed from the 1st 3 rounds.m

Yea, picked out of the # 9 spot on Sunday.

12 Team

0.5 PPR

4 pt Passing TD

1.09 Calvin Johnson (Planned on McFadden, but had to jump on Megatron when he fell)

2.04 Darren McFadden (Thrilled that he came back around)

3.09 Ryan Matthews (Again would have thought about him in the 2nd, so thrilled he fell all the way to the late 3rd)

4.04 Matt Ryan (Wanted him bad, was actually the 10th QB off the board though, considered myself fortunate)

5.09 Brandon Lloyd

6.04 Torrey Smith (Higher than I would have liked, but really wanted him and wasn't sure he'd be available at 7.09)

7.09 Jason Witten (8th TE off the board)

8.04 Kevin Smith (At the time, didn't think there was a strong chance rashad jennings could be week 1 starter and need someone to start weeks 1 and 2 for Matthews)

9.09 Reggie Wayne

10.04 Russell Wilson (mind you this was hours before he was announced as the week 1 starter)

11.09 Rashad Jennings (Prob would have taken him higher if I thought he would start week 1)

12.04 Greg Olsen (High on him, and needed insurance policy for Witten)

13.09 Alfred Morris (Wanted another possibility of a week 1 starter to replace Matthews)

14.04 Cardinals D/ST (Play the Seahawks week 1 at home, peterson is great in ST)

15.09 Bengals D/St (They play the Browns week 2, likely drop them right after that)

16.04 Dan Bailey

Drafted last night, 12 team PPR, all TD's 6 points.

Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE flex, 1 K, 1 D/ST

Very happy with my team, was able to get DMac after 4 QB's went in the first maybe #9 wasn't as bad as I thought. At this spot it is important to spot a trend or start the trend otherwise it will be too late to react. Happened to me on TE's always on the end of a run and didn't want to reach.

1.09 DMac: Thrilled to get him here

2.04 D. Murray: If you go with one injury prone RB why not go with 2?

3.09 Julio Jones: Very happy to nab him

4.04 Doug Martin: Needed to build some RB depth with the first 2 I have

5.09 Matt Ryan: Just about the right spot to nab him

6.04 Steve Johnson: Great value

7.09 P. Garcon: Again good value

8.04 Big Ben: First misstep of the draft, probably should have waited on QB and went with a TE or another WR

9.09 P. Hillis: Great value and good piece of mind with the fragility of my top 2 RB

10.04 D. Moore: Building WR depth

11.09 K. Smith: Just silly I got him here, gives me piece of mind at RB for sure

12.04 K. Rudolph: Had to get a TE and he was the most upside that was on the board. (Olsen went right before I picked)

13.09 C. Fleener: Another TE lotto ticket

14.04 J. Simpson: Upside pick at this point

15.09 S. Smith (Rams): Could be a PPR machine at this spot

16.04 Buffalo Defense

17.09: Some kicker

1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1PK, 1DST6pt passing TDs, no ppr12 teamQB: Matt Ryan, Andrew LuckRB: Darren McFadden, Fred Jackson, DeAngelo Williams, Cedric Benson, Rashad Jennings, Rashard MendenhallWR: Larry Fitzgerald, A.J. I'm assuming you took McFadden in the 1st, Fitz in the second, AJ in the 3rd, Jackson in the 4th and Austin in the 5th?

heres my 9 spot draft that is still ongoing:

standard ppr: start 1 qb (4 pt td), 2 rb, 3wr, 1te, 1 flex, k, d

1: jimmy graham

2: larry fitzgerald

3: steven jackson

4: ahmad bradshaw

5: steve johnson

6: eric decker

was going to grab forte and then graham, but talked myself out of it last minute (forte went 2.3-so almost got him)

dont see much difference after the top 4/5 rb's, but huge drop off at the te spot

also nice to note that none of these guys have the same bye week

1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1PK, 1DST6pt passing TDs, no ppr12 teamQB: Matt Ryan, Andrew LuckRB: Darren McFadden, Fred Jackson, DeAngelo Williams, Cedric Benson, Rashad Jennings, Rashard MendenhallWR: Larry Fitzgerald, A.J. Jackson in the 3rd, AJ in the 4th. Nelson, Cruz, Green, and Marshall were all still sitting there in the third, so I took FJax figuring I'd get one of them on the turn.

Green was the last one available at 4.04.Austin was 5.09 and Ryan was 6.04. Picks #10-12 already had their QBs from earlier rounds, so I was confident they wouldn't get their QB2 that early.

Just got back home

12 team / PPR / 6pt ALL TD / 1QB-2RB-2WR-1TE-1D-1K

I was kind of bummed to get the 9th pick when I drew it considering that the 3 elite QBs would be history, Mega would be gone, and a lot of RBs with ? marks. I think I did alright. Got lucky with CJ2k dropping to me.

1. Chris Johnson

2. Julio Jones

3. Victor Cruz

4. Antonio Gates

5. Peyton Manning

6. Shonn Greene

7. Torrey Smith

8. Jonathon Stewart

9. Joe Flacco

That's all I can remember draft order wise.

Was super relieved that CJ was there for me at 9. I love having Juilo and Cruz as my WR. I think Gates can finish as the 3rd TE so I think that is great value at 4. Peyton Manning was a roll of the dice at 5 but he has the potential to finish in the top 5 of QBs and got him in the 5th. Covered my bases getting Flacco later as well. Not thrilled with Shonn Greene as my #2 RB but he will have ample opportunity to put up decent numbers. Having CJ2k should help off-set that IMO.

My Team:

QB: Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco

RB: Chris Johnson, Shonn Greene, Jonathon Stewart, Pierre Thomas, Dexter McCluster

WR: Julio Jones, Victor Cruz, Torrey Smith, Derius Heyward-Bey, James Jones, Emmauel Sanders

TE: Antonio Gates, Dustin Keller

Overall I was pretty happy considering how down I was on having the 9th pick. QBs are huge in this league and really wanted one of big 5. Im hoping Manning wont miss a beat

Loved the #9 pick, but mainly because my league went QB crazy. I may have already posted in this thread. Apologies if I did.

Only real question mark is qb, but as long as I can find someone serviceable I think I'll be okay.

Round Pick Player Position

1. (9) Darren McFadden RB

2. (16) DeMarco Murray RB

3. (33) Ryan Mathews RB

4. (40) Roddy White WR

5. (57) Dez Bryant WR

6. (64) Antonio Gates TE

7. (81) Robert Griffin III QB

8. (88) Donald Brown RB

9. (105) Kendall Wright WR

10. (112) Jacquizz Rodgers RB

11. (129) New York DEF

12. (136) Santonio Holmes WR

13. (153) Stephen Gostkowski K

14. (160) Kendal Hunter RB

Got 9 spot non ppr. Would love mcfadden or CJ but dont think either will be there. Really want best RB here but not stretching for Forte or others so will take Brees or Brady then lynch bc he is the guy getting carries which is a requirement for my RB 1
I think you may be surprised. I'm not a huge fan of the 9 spot, but I've had a couple of drafts from that spot this year and I'm not at all displeased with my teams. I've pretty much seen both McFadden and Chris Johnson available at 9. What I've been most surprised about is how early QB's are flying off the board. Obviously to be expected in the 10 team start 2QB league I'm in, but I've also seen Rodgers, Brady, and Brees off the board prior to the 9 spot in standard 12 team leagues. I don't like Graham or Gronk that early unless you are in a league that heavily scores TE's. I've actually been able to grab McFadden as low as #12. From the 9, I like going McFadden/CJ/Matthews paired with a top WR in the 2nd. Not a bad start, but I ideally would love to be in the top #5 this year. The only league I have grabbed Graham in is the 10 team start 2QB league where I started with Stafford and Graham. So far the DD has been worthless for me in terms of mocks(which it usually is). My drafts never look like they do on DD.

Picked 9 today in 12 team, non-ppr.

Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR/TE, 1K,1DEF

Passing TD = 4pts, 50 passing yds =1 pt

25 Rushing and receiving yds = 1 pt, TD = 6 pts

1. McFadden

2 Julio Jones

3 AJ Green

4 Michael Vick

5 Frank Gore

6 Reggie Wayne

7 Pierre Garcon

8 David Wilson

9 Jacquizz Rodgers

10 RGIII

11 Brandon LaFell

12 Houston D

13 Ronnie Hillman

14 Shayne Graham

Was thinking Brees might be there at 1.9, but as has been the case the last couple years, QBs flew off the board. Stafford and Cam went off at end of rd 1.

I had been mock drafting with only taking 1 RB with first few picks, and banked on Gore or McGahee being there in Rd 5. I can handle DMC and Gore as my RBs, and will pray five times a day that they stay healthy. Looking for a nice one-two punch at WR with Julio and A.J. in this TD league.

Is this a PPR league?
Yes it is.
