Pick up Denard Span if you haven't done so already. He should the the Twins new leadoff hitter any day. Gomez is a disaster as a leadoff hitter and has 16 BB compared to 98 strikeouts on the season - 4% walk rate.

I keep waiting for this guy to get moved up top too. Not that it counts, but he plays some great defense as well.

Span is leading off tonight. I hope Gomez appreciates how long and how far Gardenhire stuck his neck out for him in the first half.In the short and long run, this is going to be good for the Twins AND Gomez. He needs to be out of the pressure slot and work on his game.

Finally picked up Span after contemplating it for the past month. What will happen when Cuddyer comes back?

Rodney and Zumaya (day to day with a tricep injury) will both get their chances but Rodney will be the primary guy. Jones might be done as a Tiger if anyone is interested in him which is very possible.

This one is way out there, but if you've got an open spot and need to take a huge gamble, check out 26 year old outfielder Chris Dickerson from the Reds. The Dunn trade opens up a spot, and Dickerson is already on the 40 man roster.

He's tearing it up in AAA, and they may have dealt Dunn to clear a spot for him.

HUUUUUGE caveat is that he hasn't been called up yet, nor has there been any indication they will. Every source points to Hairston getting more time, but this team is going nowhere and they need to see if guys like Dickerson can help them next year.

I had an open slot with Crawford on the DL, so I took the gamble.
