Picking 14-17 (1 Viewer)

I pick 9/12, and have a really high chance of ending up with DMC in my league. My question is this, say you take DMC or CJ2K with your first pick, which RB are you taking at 14-17 barring someone fell to you. The way it has been playing out is most mocks, either Charles or Lynch are available at 16. Stats aside, my argument against Charles is that, you must take Hillis in the 6th or 7th. Which can hamstring your strategy if you are going RBRBRB (which I most likely am).

Personally, it depends on which one I get. If I get CJ2K, I'm going to probably go with big upside in the 2nd, like Charles. If I take DMC, I'll probably go with the safer pick (who is generally healthy) by picking up a Lynch or Steven Jackson in the 2nd.

If you get Charles though, I don't see a problem with making sure to back him up with Hillis. I think it would be possible to start both in many weeks.

Your other option is to swing for the fence and pick up Mathews, who should be a big producer when he comes back.

I might also consider Richardson on the swing. I'd take him before Mathews as coming back soon from a collarbone injury can result in other injuries including a second fracture. If your league is a standard league, I'd go Lynch, Richardson, Charles, Mathews. If it is PPR, I'd go Richardson, Charles, Lynch, Mathews.

:goodposting: For any late round leagues in which I draft I would pretty much follow this thinking. Substitute Murray for for DMC and Forte for CJ and both of those hold true as well.

Richardson is a late 3rd at the earliest for me. I'm all in on drafting guys with high ceilings but there's a lot going against TRich this year. I can't see passing up a rock solid WR1 in the third for a rookie with that kind of schedule and supporting cast. When you get to the beginning of the 4th he's worth the risk, though.

Maybe this is asking the obvious, but do you HAVE to go RB in round two if you get one of those two? If you are in a PPR, you may want to go TE or WR next. I am doing an Interboard league draft right now, and while I will be the first to admit that the participants are ignoring RB (you can start two Max and only need to start one), there are incredible values in the 5-7th rounds.

I would be happy with DMac/Murray but would take Lynch in round 2 if Murray is gone. Charles has two strikes against him, coming off ACL surgery and Hillis.

I'm with Sweet Love here. In a 10 teamer you could probably get Fred Jackson as your #2 in the 3rd. Good value and then you have a high end WR you can spend your 2nd on.

:goodposting: I'd much rather grab Graham or Gronk in those slots. IMO there is so much depth at WR and QB that it's worth the wait.

I am also considering a combo of Darren McFadden and Jimmy Graham/Rob Gronkowski.

I think that pairing gives you an advantage at RB1 and TE most almost every week.

This question is based on a 12-team standard (no PPR). Heavy trades and everyone has known everyone for nearly 15 years now. I have been getting Fred Jackson in the third (which I love). What worries me about DMC/Murray is that tandem could easily go down in flames. Plus, I still do not trust the Cowboys O-line. Has it gotten better from last year? Yes, but barely. Lynch will be running against a fairly light schedule (49ers being the exception) and has no other RB nipping at his heals right now. Less sexy but safer pick IMO.

This question is also based on the maxim, QB/TE value late. Passing on Graham at 16 will be very tough though. I just really like getting RG3/Luck/Big Ben/Locker/Cutler late and Fred Davis/Celek/Allen late as well.

If you end up w/ DMC/Lynch/Fred Jax, and Doug Martin/Spiller/Quizz/Raider handcuff late, then go with a starting pair of S.Smith/Nelson/Harvin/Brown/T.Smith/Wayne. You can grab for sure grab RG3/Cutler/Luck/Locker without worries, and maybe Hernandez if he falls to you in the 6th or like I said,Davis/Celek/Allen TEBC. I think that is a very solid team.
