I don't think my team finishes any higher than 10th (barring some whiz bang FA pickups)

I completely missed the implications of the pitching innings limit. By the time I realized it was too late. So I probably went too strong on SP when I should have been going after some good relievers. Missing out on Wade Davis and Andrew Miller stung. Was targeting them with my next pick.

Oh well, learning experience and all that.

You can chase SVs in this format. It requires a lot of speculating and more than a bit of luck.

I didn't even know it was one catcher until halfway through the draft...lol

My top-5 rankings based solely on looking at the teams (I dont do projections).

1. E-Z Glider - just needs a couple breaks :P

2. Shady Inc - most balanced team, IMO

3. Hoos - solid, but will be chasing SVs

4. MAC - only lacking an Ace

5. RnR - I actually like this team, but for some reason, I just cant get past drafting Carlos Santana in the 3rd round and putting him at 1B

That really wasn't my intention. I suspect he'll spend the majority of time at catcher. Wieters in the 19th round gave me some options though. Will definitely get 162 games out of CA slot.

Im sure it wasnt... also, along with others not knowing the rules, I didnt realize this was a daily transaction league. I played in Cake two years ago and I swore it was a weekly league? Did it change, or am I crazy?

so during the season, are players pretty much continually on waivers?

i'm basically comparing this to football, where after they play a game, they go on waivers for 2 days. but since MLB players are likely to play 5-7 times a week (batters anyways), wouldn't they just continuously be on waivers if the 2 day waiver period resets after they play in a game?

i guess i don't understand how it works :(

I took a relook and think rnr, shady and wildbil are the top 3......

rnr: taking Santana at 4? actually 3.......means he needs to be catcher, but wieters was good value. with wieters' injury and DL likely, the 1b slot can be filled, though the bench is a bit light. not sold on the pitching, but 3 closers are likely 180 innings, meaning 1100 is needed from 5-6 guys. with mid pack pitching and a top offence, likely contender here. went Zimmerman Wright 7 and 8 and had Julio Teheran on the board at 7. the last of what I saw was the upper tier. I would've liked Teheran instead of either. I am anti met and think wright is a corpse. with Zimmerman and Santana, could've gone P. I grabbed ken morales late in all drafts for a corner and think he will be real close to wright.

shady: I like the offence, but not the UT spots right now. real players are needed there. but, I like Greinke, cueto, Richards, Paxton and mchugh. McCarthy is a nice guy to have 6th. top 4 offence and pitching = contention. pedroia at 6 was way too high. I think he is in decline and injuries are a concern. power waning, speed leaving and obp was off. for argument sake could've had asdrubal cabera and Brandon Phillips much later.

wildbil: I keep coming back to this team as the winner. but I usually finish last in cake. Bryant is the question here and may decide it all. strong mix of power, speed and playing time for counting stats. solid closers, some starters I like with an ace. kluber, Lynn, cashner, keuchel and degrom with strong closers.

Forget football. This isn't football.

If a someone drops a player, they are on waivers for two days after which they become a free agent.

It's that simple.

Do a write up like this for our league you tool

What if I put Santana at CA, Butler at 1B and Wieters at UTL instead of Wieters at CA, Santana at 1B and Butler at UTL? Then how do you guys like it?

I see what you did here.....when you go Santana 3, the value is a full season of top shelf C. you passed on longoria and adrian gonzalez and others that fill the CI. once you make that pick there, strictly IMO, you need to commit to him being a C. if not, you took him too early to fill a corner.

in cake, wieters went 18. sal Perez, McCann and Molina went 14-15. I just think the beauty of Santana is a full season of top PAs from a C. but outside of his obp, is he that appreciably better? I would like if you went Gonzalez and then wieters later. I think Shuke may have made what I seem the same error, by grabbing Russell Martin late when he had Santana.

in cake at 1-2 I turned rendon and cano. the value of rendon there was higher at 2b and I committed to that during the draft. I guess the point I am trying to make is Santana to me is a 2-3rd rounder if he's a C. otherwise, I think he is going early. and I think you grabbed him before posey......

interested to see how it works out for you. just interesting strategy.

I don't disagree with you. I expect a big season from Santana, but given the advantage of hindsight to know that I could have snagged Wieters and Molina as a catching tandem in Rounds 19 & 20, I would have taken a guy like Adrian Gonzalez or Evan Longoria for CI and waited on catcher. Unfortunately, I wasn't afforded that opportunity to see into my draft's future.

Also, UPDATE: Carlos Santana is now my starting catcher.

You know that was a joke, right?

Trust me... no one cares about your pretend baseball team.

A joke that you're 1 of the annoying 'keep us informed of your moves' posters?

Gotcha, that was hilarious.

And yes, im pretending to own Shane Greene and then pretending to potentially start him vs the Twinkies. Because that's what I would do on my pretend fantasy team.

Oof. Maybe do a little reading beyond that post, chief?

When are you posting your ME team? Or do you draft Sat? I'm on pins and needles over here waiting for the blog to be fired up.

Beyond what? I saw u took time enough to write your lame "Keep us posted" comment. That's all I read. I try to avoid the stuff you post, not flock to it like you do with mine.

Let me know when your NFBC "partner" posts yours, then I'll give u the link.

Thx

21 posts and counting in a message board thread about an amateur hour daily league. Impressive.

22 now.

Come on, anyone doing a $125 daily league has way too much time on their hands.

Just from reading some of your posts RnR, you seem like a perfect fit here.

24. Hey waiting on some more over/unders Dicky boy! Come on, that thread was popular for about 37 minutes. Time to add a couple more.
