Pitt adds Leftwich for 7th rd pick (1 Viewer)

Lombardi and Wyche on the Network not long ago both stated that LEftwich will probably start unless Big Ben is traded. Since Ben should not miss 4(with real possibility of 2), that the Steelers want to win now and Leftwich was well liked last time he was with Pittsburgh and played very well for them. Big Ben being traded is the only way Dixon gets a shot. I dont think Pitt thinks they can really win with him now but trading Ben would open it up that this will not be their year

Lot of assumptions by Lombardi and Wyche. Leftwich hasn't been in Pittsburgh's system for over a year, and it's not like his skillset has improved since then. No one really knows if he'll be able to beat out Batch (let alone Dixon).

Steelers will give Dixon the opportunity to prove he's the starter in mini camps and training camp. Leftwich is good insurance if Dixon isn't ready.
