Planning a trip to Greece - suggestions? (2 Viewers)

Checking in to get @Judge Smails Greece review.

We are going to Greece June via cruise, but not to any of the places listed.

Any feedback on Igoumenitza, Katalan (Olympia), Monemvasia (Laconia) or Spetses? It's a smaller ship, so it goes to smaller ports (thankfully). Should miss the big crowds that some of the above-mentioned places go to.

The cruise starts in Venice and ends in Athens. Includes two stops in Croatia (Zadar and Dubrovnik).

I have spent a lot of time travelling in Europe, but haven't been to Greece or Croatia other than Zagreb when I was eighteen on a Eurail pass. 50 GBP bought a stack of monopoly money that I couldn't spend in the four days I was there, despite eating like a king and drinking like a fool the whole time. I bought three cartons of Marlboros and Toblerone for the entire train on my way out of town and still had money left over. But that's another story for another time....

Have any of you spent time in any of the cities mentioned above?

After arriving in the morning, we will spend one night in Athens, but don't plan on spending too much time there.
The two cities in Croatia I haven’t spent any time in. Dubvornik is Dubvornik. It’s a tourist trap, but a beautiful tourist trap. Walk the walls, take a boat ride, drink wine, and chill.

For Zadar, everything I’ve heard is it’s the typical Croatian costal town in that it’s really a jumping off point to the islands. But go to the beach, drink wine, etc. If the trip offers it, a tour to Plivitice Lakes is worth it (if you do that and have limited time I can give some info on how to do the park).

Heading out today. Flying to Milan via PHL. Staying near Milano Centrale train station where there is an awesome food hall and a place that serves fantastic dumplings. It may sound dumb, but that's one of the reasons we decided to fly into Milan before boarding the ship in Venice on Sunday. We take the train from Milan to Venice Sunday morning. I think we have been to that dumpling place at least 6-7 times in our last 3 trips to Italy. They're pretty good....

We are self-described foodies and tend to travel by our stomach. Food tends to drive our decision making on location first (restaurants, markets, food halls, etc.), hotels and sightseeing come after that.
