Play Against Bloom and Dodds (1 Viewer)

FantasyPros.com just doubled their prize pool. You've got to put in $5 to play now (used to be free), but they're capping the number of entries to only a couple hundred. There's also a bonus if you beat Dodds, Bloom, and two other experts. I'm rolling the free $5 I got from beating Bloom the first time into this contest...would be sweet if I can turn nothing into a few hundred bucks!

Just playing for fun since they don't have a $5 deposit option. I also think you have a better chance of finishing in the top ten than beating 4 experts.

Just got an email about this. The PHI game postponement means that those players (per Fanduel's rules) fall outside the Sun./Mon. game window, which means those players score 0 for the week. I am currently sitting in 9th place with an Eagle in my lineup. Not looking good at this point. Though the 991 entrants with Vick would probably have jumped me.

This is awful. If they don't count the Tusday games, I for one, will never visit their website again and will make sure the many FF players I know hear of the awful decision. No other FF website I play on has such a stupid rule. The rule is a holdover from baseball (rainouts) and shouldn't even be applied to football.

I agree. Dumbest rule ever. FanDuel claims they messaged this policy to folks, but they obviously didn't since so many people seem to still have PHI/MIN players in their lineup. Just log in and check out the top 10 teams right now...a bunch of them have players in the Tuesday night game.

I'm in the top 30 right now with a couple players in the PHI/MIN game. I know it's no guarantee that I would improve my rank since other teams have the impacted players too, but this policy on how to handle schedule moves is down right stupid.

I'm guessing, at this point though, that it would also be unfair to change the policy since there could have been some teams that took out the Tuesday players from their lineup due to the FanDuel policy. If that's the case, it wouldn't be fair to them to change the policy now.

There was a FanDuel person in one of these threads before. I'd love to hear what he has to say.

O-rly? Ummm...no, they didn't. I would bet most of us playing had no idea this was there "policy" until today.

lol at these guys

they run these promotions to build awareness for their site yet they'll end up turning people off forever with stupidity like this.

We're still in the process of discussing what we can do about this without penalizing the players who win under our existing rules. Here's the text of what we posted on the blog on our site:

We realize many people were affected by choosing players in the Eagles vs. Vikings game who were not familiar with our rules on postponed games. We are currently discussing how we can achieve a more positive result for negatively affected entries. Emails will go out to every affected player on Wednesday.

Based on feedback we've received, we're also reviewing what the rules should be going forward.

Please wait until that announcement to come to a final conclusion about how we've handled the situation.

Definitely disappointed in this decision, it makes zero sense. I cant imagine there is a single league in the country that is simply ignoring this game tonight altogether. Plus the decision to move it to Tuesday came early on Sunday. Why would the normal person think that Tuesday players would be eliminated just because it is on Tuesday....

:lmao: This decision makes zero sense. And no "reminder" or "warning" ever went out from FanDope on the fact that the Tuesday players wouldn't count. Well, I guess that's one less FF site to woory about. :tfp:

Just when I've think I've heard and seen it all in the fantasy football world, someone amazes me with their stupidity.

I think it's 100% unanimous that this FanDuel policy is completely stupid.

But, I agree with them that they can't go and change the policy now. Every person that knew the policy and changed their lineup because of it would be negatively impacted if they went and reversed their rules now. Sure, that might mean only a handful of players out of the thousands that play there, but you can't say one thing and then change it later...that would just exacerbate the issue.

I can't wait to see what their "make good" is for those of us that had players in the game (I had 2). It better be good or else an already angry crowd is likely to get violent!

It's pretty simple...take the hit and pay it out both ways or risk losing the any chance of becoming a viable contest in the ff world. I'm sure between the four experts, one of them will have done well enough to have you covered from any major loss.

Are you sure you were playing the same contest? The reason I ask is that there are only 220 total entries in the contest.I ended up in 11th place, just 2 tenths outside of the money. The SD Defense really killed me. I had:

agreed. If I posted/bumped a weekly thread to induce a particular site to participate, why not go and post a all caps sunday morning thread TO ALL IN THE DOOD/BLOOM 1000 POOL. PLAYERS ON TNF WILL NOT COUNT!?I knw it's not a requisite, but If it was me I'd certainly do that. Odds are they didn't even think about the ramifications until it was too late.

I will reserve judgement for now, but i would love to hear a justification for why they do it this way. I actually have a decent one, well better than nothing, but I'll let them make their own justifications without my assistance for now.

? that is the BS line being trotted out by those who happened to not choose eagles/vikings players. I'm sure there is a site log of changes. out of the 220 entrants how many got on the site and changed their players (ie swapped out MINN/PHI players for non minn/phi players-- not just made changes to their lineups) when that was announced (for anyone to claim they avoided picking these players in advance is ####tarded/disingenous as this is the first time a game on sunday was moved to tue since 1946.)I'll bet that # is under 2%, if it is anyone at all. This logic might hold true, if this policy was even well known, or if the email they claimed to have sent (well someone here claimed they said they sent it) had been sent, but absent that this is a red herring.

nicely done, save the SD D screwing you (me too as i picked up and started SD over ATL in one champ league  ) I still am not sure wtf happened there. All I do know is norv needs to go. He's been wasting the talent on that team for years.

The good: All the experts had a bunch of players going in tonight's game, so a lot of people beat out all four experts. I'll take my $20. Thank you.

The bad: I think I have a legit chance at sneaking into the top 10 if all the marbles fall the right way tonight....too bad the players won't count!

The ugly: I can't wait to see what FanDuel's "make good" is on Wednesday. It better be good or else they're going to be flamed to hell.

fwiw here is the email that they sent yesterday, for those who are just lurking but may not have gotten one.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for entering an NFL contest on FanDuel this weekend. I'm

contacting you because your lineup included players from the postponed

MIN @ PHI game. I wanted to clarify our rules on postponements and

explain how we are handling this exceptional circumstance.

Our rules state that if games are postponed outside the game period

(Thu-Mon, Sun-Mon or Sunday only depending on game) then players from

those games score zero. According to this rule, the Vikings-Eagles

postponement to Tuesday means players from that game will score zero.

I understand that this will negatively impact your score.

Unfortunately, we have to adhere by our rules as published otherwise it

would be unfair to users who played by them and changed lineups based

on the weather.

However, in this instance it is clear that many users feel that these

rules are incorrect or unfair. At FanDuel we aspire to ensure that

every user (whether they win or lose) has a great game experience. In

this instance we feel we have failed to meet that therefore we are now

looking at how we should amend our rules to more closely meet user

expectations. We would appreciate your input on that.

Additionally, we are looking at whether we can achieve a more positive

result for negatively affected entries. I will email you with regards

to that on Wednesday.

Best regards,

Tom Griffiths

I ended up finishing something like 191st as they zeroed out half of my roster. Hopefully that got a few of you the $20 for beating all the experts.

 If the 4 experts weren't aware of the phi/minn players won't count, it is safe to say that no one in the contest (that isn't on staff) was aware of this.

I read that some folks saw the warning message. I for one did not. Then again, I wasn't too busy setting up my league lineups to worry about checking in on my fanduel lineup on Sunday morning.

Since the MIN/PHI players missed the week 16 window, the scores should count for week 17 plus the actual week 17 games. Sort of like a baseball double header.

There was no warning email...not sure where that rumor came from. We posted on the website reminding people about the rule and how it would be interpreted on Sunday about an hour and a half before game time for the early games, when the news broke that the NFL was considering a postponement. The posts were in our forums, chat room, blog, and a note on the player selection screen for contests. In retrospect, an email would have obviously been a really good idea.Nigel is our CEO, but I don't think that message was from his personal email account. If you want to pass along a message to him, you can email me at alex@fanduel.com and I'll pass it along.I'll be back tomorrow after the announcement of our resolution of this issue to answer any questions and to act as a punching bag for anyone who wants to continue venting.

Here's the email that I just received from FanDuel regarding the situation:

-

Thanks for your patience over the last few days as we have worked

towards a resolution regarding the weekend's MIN@PHI postponement. We

appreciate the input we've had since my last email, and have arrived

at what we feel is a fair conclusion.

Firstly, to maintain the integrity of the site, we have adhered to the

rule as written and paid out wins for users while scoring all Vikings

and Eagles players as zero.

Secondly, we recognize that the postponement rule for NFL as written

did not meet people's expectations and have revised it for future

weeks to include postponed games as long as they are played by the

following Wednesday (full text below).

Thirdly, to make up for the poor experience of users who had Vikings

and Eagles players, we are also paying out a bonus equivalent to the

wins as if those players had counted. So, if you would have won had

Tuesday's game counted you will receive the same amount of cash. This

is an expense to us. Our commitment is that all users have a great

experience on FanDuel and we felt, in this instance, this was the only

fair solution.

This situation was caused by an NFL game getting postponed to Tuesday,

something that last happened 64 years ago. We hope the way we have

dealt with these exceptional circumstances gives you confidence in the

responsiveness and integrity of the site. We look forward to

continuing to provide you with great NFL action this coming weekend,

during the post season, and throughout the 2011 NFL season.

Kind regards and Happy New Year,

Tom Griffiths

New rules on postponements:

For NFL contests, you will receive points for any postponed games that

are played no later than Wednesday of that week.

For one day MLB contests, if the postponed game is played on the same

day then you will receive points for your players in those games as

normal. If a game is postponed to a later date or called off for any

reason, any players you have selected for that game will receive zero

points.

For one day NBA and NHL contests, you will receive points for any

postponed games that are played no later than the next day.

For any NBA, MLB, and NHL contests that are scheduled to include games

from multiple days (such as some playoff contests), you will receive

points for any games that are played no later than the day after the

last game scheduled as part of the contest.

If game cancellations and/or postponements mean there is only one game

left in a contest, then the contest will be canceled and all entry

fees will be refunded.

NOTE: A game will be considered to be 'played' on a given day if it

begins on that day and is completed no later than 6am Eastern on the

following day.

 And excellent resolution. Kudos to FanDuel for coming up with a more-than-fair solution to a difficult problem.

That email is the one going out to those who lost because of the zero point players in the Min-Phi games. A very slightly different one will go out to all players shortly after. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to post here or email me at alex@fanduel.com

Good resolution! Out of curiosity... How many people would have jumped into the top 10 had this game counted Zoobird?

Sorry - I didn't get a chance to look yet. Keep in mind that this same issue existed across all of our contests this week - the $6K Bomb, $5K Blitz, $2500 Elite, and thousands of dollars of h2h, 5 player, and 10 player contests.

Ouch. You guys did a good job in resolving this. I'm sure you will reap the rewards down the road.

That was the right thing to do. Kudos to FanDuel for stepping up to the plate to make things right. It took them a little long to get to that decision, but I'm sure it had a decent price tag associated to it.

The latest comment on the FantasyPros.com site says they're going to post up the new leaderboard once they get it from FanDuel.
