and boulware's player page.... i'm still high on him, but another season with reduced tackles will raise concerns about scheme-related limitations...
Positives
Sensational athlete who was an All-American WLB at Florida State before being converted to SS prior to his 2004 rookie season. Outstanding pedigree and bloodlines... his brother was an All-American DE at Florida State and a Pro Bowl OLB for the Ravens. Clocked a smoking 4.4 at his combine and was the fastest "LB" in the 2004 draft class. Good size for a SS at a listed 223 lbs. Playmaker with great instincts who is usually around the ball (was instrumental in four Seattle victories with late game heroics during a brilliant rookie season). Dangerous in the open field and can do something with the ball once he has it in his hands.
Negatives
Still going through some growing pains in the LB/S conversion. This was painfully evident in the Super Bowl when he made mistakes in coverage and took a horrific angle on a long Willie Parker TD run. Learning nuances of his drops, and how the play looks and unfolds differently from safety than from the LB position.
Outlook
Another ascendant young Seahawk defender who is an emergent star. Didn't get as many tackles in 2005, but that was said to be scheme-related (he was asked to provide over the top help and implored to keep the action in front of him for much of the season). Still learning the position, he is just scratching the surface of his potential. Finished last season #33 among DBs in FBG scoring, but has the pedigree and talent to break through into the top 10 DBs (contingent on scheme-driven forces that could play a large role in dictating his scoring upside). A Frankenstein monster combo of LB size and hitting ability, the range and instincts of a safety and the speed and aerial skills of a CB confer on him the rare and real opportunity to rack up points over half a dozen ways (solo tackles, assists, sacks, FFs, FRs, INTs and TDs).
