Player Spotlight: Donovan McNabb (1 Viewer)

310/510/3665/22/12 passing

45/150/2 rushing

a little underrated right now. I think this is the year he stays healthy.

Most of us don't play in rotessiere (sp?) leagues.  If I'm told that I'll have bank on David Carr from week 11-14 and playoffs, I'd make sure I got it right from week 1.
It beats banking on Mark Brunell from weeks 1-10 and missing the playoffs entirely.
It doesn't beat having a QB that finish top 10 - 12 a la Jake Plummer, Drew Brees that stays healthy and plays the whole season. Also, if I take Plummer in the 8th or 9th, obviously I'll have that 3rd I used on McNabb to help at another position - so to suggest that not having McNabb means you don't make the playoffs is very over-simplified.Obviously this is all hindsight and I'm not drafting Plummer before McNabb - but to try and count seasons in which McNabb gets injured and misses a lot of time as a "FANTASTIC SEASON" because of his PPG through weeks 1 - 10, that's ridiculous.

If I draft McNabb in the 3rd round and end up starting Carr in the playoffs, McNabb did not have a fantastic season. This is not a rottisserie sport.

I started a 4-page thread on McNabb HERE with a ton of comments from the peanut gallery in there.
Peanut Gallery eh? How condescending of you Yudkin.
The '"no comment" shtick is relatively recent, coming from standup comics' attempts to put down hecklers. The "peanut gallery" has been used for some time to imply "the cheap seats."
Thanks bud, appreciate the label. :kicksrock: See how many comments you generate from the "peanut gallery" next time you start a post.

It'll be something like this..... :tumbleweed:

A great warrior, and a great public figure. I admire him personally and professionally.

Yet the Eagles are now the fourth best team in the NFC east. They have a predictable offense, an untested WR corps and no apparent running game.

And Donovan, tough as he is, has recuring injuries.

Its gonna be a long year.

3100 yrds, 18 TDs, 15 Ints, 300 rds rushing, 2 TDs.

Dave's a good egg, I don't think he meant anything by it Score. Just probably poor choice of words or somesuch. As you know, an oops is bound to happen

I actually think McNabb is primed for a huge comeback season from a fantasy perspective.

For starters, the team will be way better overall, and I can't seem to shake the feeling that Terrell Owens was a bigger distraction than we can even imagine, based on what I saw from McNabb in that first game they played without him against Dallas (before he went down of course).

Mentally, he just seemed like his old self in that game and the Eagles, as a team, played one of their best games of the season. McNabb is a gamer and a playmaker and if you'll remember, he finally had a rushing touchdown in the that game.

I think we all agree that Reggie Brown is the best rookie receiver the Eagle franchise has had in a long time (he set a franchise record for yards by a rookie) and I personally think that Todd Pinkston is slightly undervalued based on the improvement he's made every season (he's had some huge catches the past 2 or 3 seasons). If he can just keep those Achilles tendons on ice, he should come back and have a surprisingly good year as well. Throw in L.J. Smith and Brian Westbrook, both immense talents at their positions and you realize that McNabb does have some very capable targets to throw to.

I like him to throw for at least 3500 yards and 25 TD's, and rush for 400+ yards and 5 TD's.

I also expect he'll continue to keep his INT's down as usual (somewhere around 10).

McNabb hasn't had a good non-TO season since 2001. He's coming off a pretty major, and nagging injury. He still doesn't have the greatest receivers in the world.

I just don't see it. He'll supposedly be healthy, but I think those expected a top 5 QB here are in for a rude awakening.

I see something a little better than 2002-2003, but nothing spectacular.

3100 yards, 21 TD, 11 INT, 350 rushing yards, 4 rushing TD.

Donovan McNabb scored 258.2 points in 10 games. Let's say you had McNabb that season. After those 10 games, you have to pick up a replacement QB. Let's say your backup was horrible, ranked #24 on the season (and therefore, theoretically, the worst backup-caliber QB in the league). Let's see... #24 that season was David Carr, with 195.9 total points. Let's prorate that total to see what an expected value for a 6-week span from Carr would be. Hmmm... 73.5 points. So you have Donovan McNabb, who scores 258.2 points, and David Carr, who scores you 73.5 points... you totaled 331.7 points that season. 331.7 points would be enough for the #3 QB in all of fantasy football.
Explain this again to everyone who owns Mcnabb how him being hurt isn't a big deal.Just start the backup right?
