2007 Player Spotlight Series

Over the course of the offseason, we will be evaluating a multitude of players at every fantasy position. One such way we go about that is through the Player Spotlight series. Think of the Spotlights as a permanent record on some of the more intriguing players for the upcoming season. Each Spotlight will be featured in an article on the main website.

Thread Topic: Eddie Kennison, WR, Kansas City Chiefs

Player Page Link: Eddie Kennison Player Page

Each article will include:

Detailed viewpoint from a Footballguys staff member
Highlighted member commentary from the message board threads
FBG Projections
Consensus Member ProjectionsThe Rules

In order for this thread to provide sustainable value, we ask that you follow a few simple guidelines:

Focus commentary on the player in question, and your expectations for said player
Back up your expectations in whatever manner you deem appropriate; avoid posts that simply say "I hate him" or "He's the best"
To be included in the final synopsis and consensus outlook, you MUST provide projections for the playerProjections should include (at a minimum):

For QBs: Passing Yards, Passing TDs, Ints, Rush Yards, Rush TDs
For RBs: Rushes, Rushing Yards, Rush TDs, Receptions, Receiving Yards, Receiving TDs
For WRs & TEs: Receptions, Receiving Yards, Receiving TDsBest of Luck and ENJOY!

Kennison has always been a great value WR but you started to see his decline last year. He is getting old and is the 3rd option on a run happy team with a conservative coach with a bad Oline and green to average QBs. I think he continues his plunge this year.

55 rec, 800 yds, 4 td

Only two posts on Kennison, he will again be overlooked by the masses. Only thing is this year there is a new QB in KC and we don't even know yet who it will be. It could even be a platoon or take turns situation. I believe that Eddie Kennison will continue to be the top WR option this season for the Chiefs and he still will go very late and still will outproduce his ADP. Problem is that this year he will likely outproduce his ADP by less than he has in recent years.

In other words, he may be drafted even lower, possibly as WR 50 or so. He will probably only produce at WR 40 and will therefore only barely be a starter. There will a lot of boom or bust younger guys taken before him. So, if you have don't have many sure things, Kennsion will be a steady producer that you can get late if six points a week helps you out.

If you have solid WRs already, I'd rather give some long shot rookie that might catch fire and finish WR 15 than grab Kennison.

Eddie Kennison 90 targets 50 receptions 725 yards (14.5 ypc) and 5 TDs

Just wondering how this WR'ing corps is panning out. Kennison will get the number 1 WR role although it is still a back seat role to Gonzalez, but who will be the 3rd leading receiving guy on this team (the teams 2nd WR)?

WR 1: Kennison

WR 2: Webb

WR 3: Gardner

WR: Bowe

Any KC Homers have any insight here?

I'll take it!! As of right now, there is no #2 guy yet. My guess is that Bowe will take this spot, with Webb as the #3 and Chris Hannon as the #4. Gardner or Parker will be cut prior to opening day.

I'd be shocked if Sammie Parker is cut, especially since Bowe hasn't come into camp and impressed. He definitely has his flaws, but it isn't like he has TO and Chad Johnson pushing him in camp for his STARTING spot.
