Player Spotlight: Larry Johnson (1 Viewer)

Was LJ's schedule harder or softer the second half? How effective was the QB play likely to be? Were there any injuries to the o-line after LJ got hurt? There are way too many factors to effectively predict what LJ *could* have done *had he* been healthy.Even if you do not predict an injury this year you still have to be cautious with LJ. He still has a rebuilding O-Line and a very questionable QB situation.I don't know that I would predict another injury this season (I am very tempted to though), but I would be VERY leary of taking LJ in the first round.
LJ's schedule was easier in the second half. He had played a very difficult schedule in the first 8 games. He had a rebuilding line and questionable qb last year. Herm Edwards is still going to feed him the ball. Why are you tempted to predict another injury?
He is an old player on a really bad team. Why don't you try to sell me on him? Herm giving him touches is not enough. I want to know what his schedule looks like, what his o-line is shaping up like, how the QB situation looks, fullback, TE, other RB competition in camp that could vy for touches, etc. These are all contributing factors.Maybe it is as simple as there are no other players after x that you like better than him for the same reasons, but I want to hear your reasons for why you think he will be a top 10 RB and just being fed the ball is not enough.

XActually, that IS enough.

He's 28. He's plenty young enough to have not lost a step.

It's Herm Edwards. No other rb is going to fight him for touches. Herm has said there's no way LJ will carry the ball 40 times, he'll be lucky to get 30 (per game). That's Herm's idea of RBBC. Herm Edwards has been a coach long enough for us to know his pattern - and his pattern is to feed his top guy the ball. A lot.

His o-line and qb stunk last year. Let's assume his line didn't improve - his two games against Minnesota and Jax really dragged his ypc down. Those two teams are extremely hard to run against. Aside from those two, LJ had a ypc of nearly 4.3...

The hardest thing about taking a rb is you never know if they're going to get the number of touches. 20+ is extremely desirable and LJ's a lock to get that.

He started the year rusty after missing all of TC (holdout). He's not going to miss this year. And despite everything going to crap around him, he was still on pace for a top ten year.

Some people are making things too complex. LJ is a stud who gets a TON of touches - carries/catches...it doesn't matter. He touches the ball. A LOT.

uhhhhhhhhh I disagree. 2 out of the 3 games he had descent 100 yards games in the first 8 games were against Oakland and Cincinnati. I wouldn't really call those two team part of a really difficult schedule. Was Houston part of his hard schedule? How bout Chicago? While I can say SD had a good defense I think people that played against ADP that week he set the single game record against SD would disagree with me. Say basically he had Minn (very good) who he got absolutely mauled by and Jacksonville where he also got demolished. So basically your saying unless he plays against a very below par defense he won't do any good, right?

Oh wait GB was about middle of the pack to good and they crushed him too. I'm sure the second half would have been completely different. Who do you think was on his schedule? Fresno State or maybe Hawaii?

Edit to note: The second time the Chiefs played the Raiders K. Smith put up 150 yards and 2 td's and 83 against SD. Wow that's crazy Kolby Smith actually put up all put 2 lesser yards than the god that is LJ against the same exact teams.

Face it, he is on a bad team with a bad offense, a bad oline and he is getting older. He's not a top ten back anymore. If you can get him mid to late second round knock yourself out. I would rather have a stud wr with that pick but knock yourself out. LJ is not in the same situation he once was........MOVE ON.

I'm done with this.
