Player Spotlight: Ronnie Brown (1 Viewer)

I think Culpepper can sprint for the endzone on 2nd and Goal from the 5 on a called pass play pretty well.
...and fumble, just like he did with the Vikes (when he had 2 good knees). Ronnie Brown is getting the goalline carries. Culpepper might score a rushing TD or 2 this year in the red zone, but I think his days of vulturing TD's are over.

If Mike Tice wasn't such a ********* ******* *****"*******"*******(breath)******-***************** ***********-******************-head, the Vikes would have tried that idiotic play less, and scored more.

I think Pots got closest:

290/1215 (4.2 YPC)

9 RuTD

40/300

1 Rec TD

...but his ceiling is higher.
So if you don't think C-Pep is going to vulture, why do you have Ronnie's touchdown total so low? Please add something to the discussion other than just trying to neutralize other peoples' ideas.
There are two fairly obvious reasons to assume CPep will not be vulturing TD's this season. 1. He's coming off of MAJOR knee surgery, which will have his coach demanding him to be less of a runner. Not to mention the fact that it takes some time to mentally recover from that type of surgery for Cpep to be confident in the knee himself.

2. Cpep never had a running back like R.Brown in Minnesota. Michael Bennett was the primary back for most of Cpep's tenure. Granted Moe Williams was available to come in at the goaline and did, but he was hardly a thoroughbred stud RB. Ronnie Brown is. There will be no reason for Cpep to jeapordize his health to vutlure goaline TD's when his team has a legitimate chance to contend with him healthy at the helm.

I followed the MIA - TB game on NFL.com last night and thought Brown looked pretty good. Now that we've seen him play in two games, what do you think about his outlook for this year? Has it changed? Some people rank him at the top of the 5-12 range and others at the bottom - or even outside of it. Does his performance change (positively or negatively) your outlook for him this year? Granted, I know it's preseason and you can't read much, if anything into it but I personally am encouraged. He seems to be running the ball well and not getting hit for negative rushing yards all that often. Plus, he is receiving some looks from CPep in the passing game which is a big plus.

I've struggled over who to rank as the #5 RB for quite some time this year. Several qualified and deserving candidates are there. Most notable Barber. I'm just not on the Barber bus at this point (for reasons we do not need to discuss i this thread :) ). Anywho, I've finally settled on my 5 ranked RB (actually about 2 weeks ago) and this is it, Ronnie Brown. I think what we have here is a situation in which elite talent meets great opportunity. Brown has great speed, power and vision. Not too mention fantastic pass catching skills. Last year he had to share time with Ricky Williams. That is not going to be an issue this year. Mia is improving and Saban has put in place a very nice offence, on paper at least. I'm looking for a featured roll out of a talented RB on a good team in a weak division.

275 carries, 1340 yds, 9 TDs, 45 rec, 340 yds, 2 TDs

1680 total yds, 11 total TDs.
