Vernon Davis is on my Most Overrated list. This guy has been hyped since he's entered the league and he's done very little. Until he proves me wrong, I'm not touching him with a ten foot pole.475yards, 38 receptions and 4 td's.

Why is going to do worse than last season when the Niners had the worst passing attack in the league?

Because Bob, as you stated.....the 49ers passing attack just isn't that good and I think he's overrated in terms of the hype behind him entering the league.Think of it this way if it makes you feel better. At least my numbers thrown in the average pool will bring down the overall average slightly so the FBG Forums doesn't think this guy is going to be a top 5 TE.....again.

The one thing that i think everyone will agree on is that Martz is going to throw the ball quite a bit more then what SF did last season (if they weren't last in attempts they had to be close). Unless Martz completely ignores Davis he's gonna get at least the same amount of targets per game as last year, and most likely more.To project lesser numbers then he had last year just to "even" out what you don't agree with isn't what these threads are for. If that was your intent then your projections should be thrown out. If that is actually what you think then fine, but purposely low balling so in the end you like the FBG projections more is the wrong thing to do.

But he will be. I think so. I dont want anyone to be upset over opinions, but I think he may even be Smith's third option after Johnson and Gore (2nd). 38 receptions by week nine I think. And I'm going to file this comment from us away just to analize later on. If you're right, I'll honor you for your predictions.

I completely and totally agree with you that he's being overrated yet again. But to not expect him to have better numbers than last year is simply absurd.He was hurt last year. He may or may not get injured again but I'm not predicting it. But some do so to each their own.The Niners had THE WORST PASSING OFFENSE IN THE ENTIRE NFL LAST SEASON. It's not going to get any worse. It simply can't. Mike Martz will bump this offense up to at least a ranking of mediocrity.He averaged nearly 4 receptions per game last year (3.72) and in 14 games 509 yards and 4 td's. I expect his reception total to increase, his yardage to increase and his ypc to increase as well. People have been and are continuing to overestimate Davis but you are seriously failing to recognize just how atrocious the Niners offense was last season.
