2008 Player Spotlight Series

One of Footballguys best assets is our message board community. The Shark Pool is, in our view, the best place on the internet to discuss, debate and analyze all things fantasy football. In what's become an annual tradition, the Player Spotlight series is a key part of the preseason effort. As many of you know, we consider the Player Spotlight threads the permanent record for analyzing the fantasy prospects of the player in question. Last year, we published more than 140 offensive spotlights covering the vast majority of expected skill position starters. This year will be no different.

Each week we will post a list of players to be discussed. Those threads will remain open for the entire preseason, and should be a central point to discussion expectations for the player in question. Importantly, analysis done in the first week of posting will be part of the permanent record in two ways. 1) At the end of the week, we will tally the projections into a consensus. 2) We will select a number of pull quotes from forum contributors who make a compelling statement or observation. Both the projections and pull quotes will be part of a published article on the main website.

Each published article will include:

Detailed viewpoint from a Footballguys staff member
Highlighted member commentary from the message board threads
FBG Projections
Consensus Member ProjectionsHere are examples of what to expect from the finished articles:

It would be great if they had their own forum instead of cluttering the main page
Ridiculous. These are some of the best threads you'll come across and really what the SP is all about. Despite what the last few months have shown, this forum wasn't created just to whine about the Patriots.

:popcorn:They're far from cluttering, and if you read some of the threads, some of the better discussion takes place here. They might be designed to just discuss the player, but often that discussion leads to discussing the team, the coaching philosophy, etc.

How is Randy Moss not on that list of receivers. He balls out every Sunday.
Hey CareerCreature,By the time we're done, we will have close to 150 players spotlighted. No worries. That said, Moss probably isn't going to be the highest value add Spotlight b/c we know people will generally expect greatness from him and he'll be a 1st rounder in most leagues. I don't know many people that will make a credible case that he shouldn't be.

right the only real argument when it pertains to Moss this year, is what part of the first round do you take him.
