Players going higher and lower than you expected at your draft. (1 Viewer)

Going higher than I expected...

QB: Ben Roethlisberger(4.10)...4th QB off the board in one of my drafts this weekend...I thought his ADP was like 8.10 or something. I was surprised.

QB: Jon Kitna (5.03)...not the 8th round steal that many were predicting. Was one of the 1st 7-8 off the board in most of my redrafts.

RB: Thomas Jones(mid 2nd)...seemed to be getting snatched up early IMO.

RB: Jamal Lewis (Early 4th)...I thought he was 6th round material for sure.

RB: Kevin Jones (Mid 6th)...guess the fact he isn't going on the PUP boosts him up a bit.

WR: Calvin Johnson (Mid 4th)

WR: Devery Henderson...went as high as the late 5th round this weekend...I loved this guy as a WR4/5 in the middle to back rounds but he was gone quickly.

Going lower than I anticipated

QB: Matt Hasselbeck(10th round)...No one seemed to want this guy so I ended up with him in several leagues and paired him up with Delhomme and Grossman quite a bit. We'll see if any of that pays off.

QB: Tony Romo (8th-9th round)...I think the board is more enamored with him than the lunchpail crews in your local leagues.

RB: Lamont Jordan (10th round)...always the last starting RB to go off the board. I was a little surprised.

WR: Isaac Bruce (12th round)...with all the crap about Holt I thought he would go a little higher but many seem to think Bennett is going to be the guy there.

WR: Donte Stallworth (12th round)...I know he can't stay healthy but he should be open all the time when Moss lines up on the other side...and he runs deadly deep routes too. I know he has heath concerns but the talent is there.

TE: Almost all of them! After Gates would go in the 2nd/3rd...it seemed like all my leagues you could wait till the middle of the 7th or later and find guys like Cooley, Heap, Gonzo...just no urge by anyone to grab a TE after Gates.

Berrian went in the 5th Thursday night. 12 teamer. Not sure I disagree, but was surprised to see someone take him there.

From mine (12 team, PPR league):

HIGHER

Drew Brees - 2:4

Carson Palmer - 2:5

Tom Brady - 2:10

Marc Bulger - 3:4

Donovan McNabb - 3:9

Vince Young - 3:10

Philip Rivers - 4:8

Matt Hasselbeck - 4:10

The run on QBs was unlike anything I've ever seen in this draft and we've had the same group of guys in this league for the last 8 or 9 years or so.

LOWER

Donald Driver - 5:2

Jason Witten - 11:2

.ministry. Sorry for this hijacking. I draft tues so can't answer. I know you moved this summer and couldn't post but would love to see your top 20 rbs in a non ppr league. No write ups necessary. Always respect your input. Thanks

Times may be changing, I've always been a RB guy and consequently find myself without a consistent point producer at the QB position. Maybe the perseption that the NFL is going to committee backfield? ( I dont buy it) I tried to grab a QB early than I usually would and still wound up with a couple of question marks. Kitna and Delhomme

I just drafted in a 16 team Non-PPR league. 20yds rush/rec = 1point, rush/red td = 6 and thrown = 3. One point for every 50yards Passing. Essentially a TD league with some Yardage for good measure. QB, WR, WR, RB, TE, FLEX(RB/WR/TE), KR, def.Wound up with 4 out of 16 on Auto Draft. Forced many folks to take QB's HIgher than Normal or the auto would be drafting mad QB's. I also think there is a building perception that top QB's provide constant Scoring week to week, second to top RB's and slightly ahead of RB13/14.

Higher than expected: Donovan McNabb at 2.2(18th overall and the 2nd QB after Manning) Made my head snap around a bit, and a grin too.

Antonio Gates at 2.3(19th overall)

AD(MINN) at 2.9(26th overall)

No remarkable late Picks. Too much information out there for folks to click on the day before a draft to have any true sleepers.

10 Team redraft league that doesn't subscribe to Stud RB.

Higher:

QB run in the 3rd round. (I picked Romo in the 9th.)

1.5 Manning

2.2 Hasselbeck (don't ask)

2.5 Brady

3.2 Palmer

3.4 Brees

3.6 Kitna

3.8 Bulger

3.10 McNabb

4.8 Young

Lower:

15.1 Brandon Jackson

17.1 DeAngelo Williams

TOO HIGH IMHO (14 TEAM REDRAFT YESTERDAY, 1 PPR START 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 3FLEX (WR, RB, TE) 1 K, 3 DEF FLEX

Travis Henry 1-10

Carson Palmer 1-14

Ocho Cinco 2-1 (1st WR off the board)

Roy Williams 2-10

Andre Johnson 2-11

Marshawn Lynch 2-13 (LOL x 20)

Drew Brees 3-3

Donovan McNabb 3-4

Kellen Winslow 4-1 (2nd TE off the board)

DeAngelo Williams 4-5

Randy McMichael 5-3 (before TGon AND Todd Heap)

Kevin Curtis 6-6

Santonio Holmes 6-11

Greg Olsen 6-13

Anthony Gonzales 10-4

TOO LOW IMHO

Cedric Benson 2-14

Edgerrin James 3-8

Carnell Williams 3-10

Brandon Jacobs 3-11

Ahman Green 3-14 (I almost took him at 3-1 instead of Antonio Gates, PPR)

Housh 4-2

Jamal Lewis 4-10

Julius Jones 7-3

Vince Young 7-7

Bernard Berrian 7-12

Tony Romo 7-13

Mark Clayton 8-2

Warrick Dunn 8-3 (Jerrious Norwood went 4-11)

Eli Manning 9-8

Jerry Porter 11-1

Kevin Jones 14-6

Derrick Mason 15-6

Daunte Culpepper 15-10

Selvin Young 17-7 (not Travis Henry owner)

One player I've seen going too low all summer is Terrell Owens. IMO there are 6 uber-elite wideouts - Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, Marvin, Wayne, Holt and T.O. - and T.O. went as the 6th wideout of that group every time. For a player that could easily finish as the #! overall WR, that's nice value in the early to mid 3rd round.

Lock down a couple of starting RBs and wait for the value WR that slides makes for a nice start in a 12-teamer.

in a 12 -teamer

early

Berrian - 5th

V Jackson - early 7th

D Boston - 12th

T Jones - mid 2nd

late

J Walker - late 4th

A Green early 5th

T Gonz and Heap - 7th

uber?! thats lame...

One league I co-commish, Gates went in the 6th round in a 10 team ppr redraft. VY went in first (guppie) and Duece went in 7th round.

Going higher than I expected... (10 team ppr flex lineup league)

RB: Ahman Green (4.02) - Not surprised he went this high, but he went ahead of people like Benson & Jacobs who were 'supposed' to go before him.

WR: Issac Bruce (7.05) - Went WR28... was expecting to be able to get him in the 9th pre-draft. However I ended up with Braylon (see below).

Going lower than I anticipated

QB: Vince Young (7.04) - Was the 13th QB taken.

RB: Cedric Benson (6.06) - I have no clue why he wasn't being drafted.

RB: Deshaun Foster (11.04) Couldn't believe he was still sitting here. Had to take him.

RB: Lamont Jordan (12.06) 2nd to the last 'starting RB off the board'... no one seemed to notice the sportsccenter rush he had 3 weeks ago (which i was worried about it increasing his stock)

RB: Lendale White (14.06) Last starting RB off the board... some people snickered and made comments... one person said 'or as they say over at pro football talk "Lenwhale"' - i just looked at him - happy he uses a site like PFT and doesn't hang out here.

(note: all 3 of the RBs above are my RB3-RB5 on my team, i don't plan on using them much, but i couldn't resist getting 'starters' while others were drafting backups)

WR: Braylon Edwards (8.06) - Same as Benson... About 35 WRs had been taken before him.

Last year I though I could grab a decent QB in the mid to late 4th round. I got stuck with Trent Green. If you want a top 5 quarterback, I think that you have to grab him in the late 2nd early 3rd round at latest.

Had a guy do this yesterday:

1.3 - Peyton Manning

2.7 - Adrian Peterson

3.3 - Marshawn Lynch

4.7 - Devin Hester

I did three drafts this weekend, and Ronnie Brown slid to at least the 4th round in all three.

White went at 5.01 in one of my drafts... And no, the dude isn't new to FF...

falling too far in most drafts I saw:

QB - Romo and Hasselbeck

RB - McCallister, James, Jordan and any Tenn. RB

WR - Houshmandzadeh, Cotchery and Kennison

TE - Crumpler and LJ Smith
