Players Looking for Milestones (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for players who may be especially good plays as they chase various milestones, as well as those who may get a little less play due to others' chasing records (e.g., LeSean McCoy). Here are some key players that come to mind.

Arian Foster is contending for the NFL rushing title at 1345 yards, with Maurice Jones-Drew close behind at 1324, followed by Jamaal Charles at 1303. Foster gets to run against the second worst run D (based on yards allowed) in the league this week at Denver (2218 vs. 2221 for the Bills). Unless his spastic glut (or ankle) is really, really bad, Foster is a great start. MJD and Charles will also be running extra hard this week and likely next.

Mike Vick is vying for league MVP, so he's not going to take a break unless he already has a huge scoring game on the books. His desire for MVP does raise concerns for LeSean McCoy, since he's trying to do everything by himself (albeit that it is currently working). Tom Brady is also in the MVP race, so expect a lot of passing in the next two games (i.e., status quo).

Which leads us to Wes Welker. Welker's at 83 catches for 829 yards right now. The Pats aren't traditionally into stats, but he has been over 100 catches and 1000 yards every year since 2007. Woodson messed things up this week in Green Bay, so the Buffalo and Miami games are his last chance to keep the streak alive. I'm speculating a season high 9-10 force-fed catches this week in Buffalo for Welker.

Lastly, I think Andre Johnson will want to get to 100 catches for the season. He's at 86 right now so they will make sure he gets to that milestone to join Roddy White (106) and Reggie Wayne (99). Roddy is already a must start, and only Foster's rushing title chase can throw a wrench into the works. Roddy may see a lot of shorter catches to get his totals up while still letting Foster get his yards. He's not likely to match his season-high of 12 catches, but 9-10 catches seems probable this week. I haven't watched much Broncos football year, so how do you think Champ Bailey will come into play this week?

BJGE needs 176 yards to get to 1000. May be a stretch, but he could be getting the ball a lot in the next few games.

Fred Jackson at 811 and the Bills fed him to have a huge game in week 17 last year to get to 1K
Interesting since 3 of his last 4 have been stinkers. I'm be much happier if Spiller ended up on the injury report again so Freddie could actually get some catches out of the backfield!

Stevie Johnson and Hakeem Nicks just below 1k yards each. Johnson needs one more TD to equal Bills all-time single-season record of 10, two to beat it.

Bigger impact is players playing for jobs/final shots next year. These are Joe Webb, Rex Grossman, Tashard Choice, whoever plays QB for San Fran, David Garrard, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Mostly cut-rate QBs.

Can't forget Mike Williams TB at 880 yards. Also, Larry Fitzgerald is just a little bit under 1000 and I think he likes to get to as close as possible to 100 receptions a season. Not saying that is likely but there isn't much else for Arizona to try to achieve.

I don't know that I put much stock in the hypothesis of this thread, but Ronnie Brown is likely a FA and is auditioning for a job somewhere.

I think this is a good topic -- a couple of questions:

Mike Vick ... "His desire for MVP" .... Speculation about his desire or has he expressed it somewhere?

Andre Johnson "will want to get to 100 catches for the season. He's at 86 right now so they will make sure he gets to that milestone..." Again, speculation, or has this been expressed?

Since 2006, Andre's had the following catch totals: 103, 60 (in 9 games), 115, and 101 last year. The 103 and 115 were tops in the league those years. The 101 last year was 3rd best.I am speculating for both, but the premise seems reasonable and has been referenced elsewhere.

"12/18 KFFL.com Hot off the Wire: Texans | Arian Foster, Andre Johnson have chance at history: Houston Texans RB Arian Foster and WR Andre Johnson have...[+] a chance to become the third pair of teammates in NFL history to lead the league in rushing and receiving yards in the same season, reports Nick Scurfield, of HoustonTexans.com. Foster currently leads the league with 1,330 rushing yards, 52 ahead of Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew. Johnson ranks fourth in the league with 1,158 receiving yards, 61 behind league-leader WR Roddy White, of the Atlanta Falcons."
