Players Retiring in the Middle of the Draft (1 Viewer)

The number of fans the NFL loses because of luck retiring will be really low.  You'll have upset colts fans who will be back, at least by the time the colts draft Tua or Trevor Lawrence (if they manage to win a few games this year).

If early retirement becomes more common, that might become significant.
Oh, I wasn't saying that. I was making a broader point that wasn't about early retirement, which I'm totally fine with. I was just talking about how fandom is irrational to begin with, really, but that that irrationality pays the bills.

a receiver  on the bills i think?  maybe anquan boldin?
Yeah, close; nice job.  It was Vontae Davis, Vernon's little brother, and he was playing CB for the Bills.  Interestingly he also played several seasons in Indy, and not for nothing, Miami before that.  So we can perhaps sort of sympathize here . . . .

But on the other hand smart leagues such as mine wait until 2 days before the first game to have their draft. It somehow increases your luck.
But decreases your Andrew, at least this year. ;)

Early retirement will become more common for those hitting that second paycheck. At some point the money no longer makes sense to crush your body and brain.
I honestly don't think it makes sense to play football for more than two years.

Vontae Davis, cornerback. It was against the chargers. He was a healthy scratch the first week, started week #2. I remember thinking at the time that it must have been a beef with his new coaches(they were down 28-6 at the half) but it sounded exactly like a Luck situation when you read his explanation on Twitter....

He was the head coach of the Jets twice and never coached a game.
Which makes him (0-0)..... the second most successful HC of the Jets in the past 40+ years? Parcells had a three year stretch where he finished above .500 but I think every other coach has been below .500 over their time with the Jets.

ETA Wait a minute, even Weeb Ewbank finished with a losing record over his tenure with the Jets?! Is it possible that Parcells is the ONLY HC to be above .500 over his time with the Jets since 1960?

Al Groh was 9-7 in his only season with the Jets (2000) before taking the Virginia U job.
