Players that fell off the face of the earth (1 Viewer)

I don't think he's saying that Neil Smith wasn't very good and then disappeared. The point of this thread is to list the guys that seemed to have vanished rather than make a known exit. So as for Neil Smith: Good ==> *POOF* ==> *US =>"

exactly. I'm just wondering where Smith wandered off to?

got it. My bad.

Here's some more: - Hart Lee Dykes - David Woodley - Eric Green - Dexter Carter - Sean Dawkins - Roosevelt Potts - Glyn Milburn - Russell White - Billy Joe Hobert - Derrick Lassic - Byron Hanspard - Troy Davis - Darnell Autry - Joe Dudek

Neil Smith is part of an ownership group that was just awarded an expansion Arena Football team in Kansas CIty at the new Sprint Center, set to open 18 months from now. The team is comprised of 3/4 of the old NO Voodoo roster. Basically the franchised moved to KC and will pick up 5 new players. The team will play @ Kemper for one season and then move into the Sprint Center, hopefully along with an NHL or NBA team.

Those are fun to read. The longer you stick around football the more guys you remember. For a few years in the late 80's and early 90's I picked 2 players with the same last name year in and year out.Rob Moore - Herman MooreGary Anderson - Ottis Anderson Those were some of the better combinations I recall. This also reminds me of "Where are they now?" sort of show.

Chuck Cecil.

One of the dirtiest players in the history of the NFL. I recall he was with the Oilers for awhile and then...gone.
How could he be one of the dirtiest when he only played a couple years. When Rodney Harrison hits with his head, he's being aggressive.

It seems the only guys who make known exits are the bleary eyed QBs that quit like Elway and Kelly. You don't see guys like Joe Jacoby are Mark Schlereth sobbing at a podium when they quit because they aren't self-absorbed babies like most QBs. I always found it peculiar that QBs often feel the need to "announce" their retirement at a press conference in their own honor.

Chris Warren...yeah, that guy was awesome a little while ago. I remember him and Edge both had huge games at the Pro Bowl one year I think. Never heard from him again after that. I guess he backed up Emmitt Smith?
After Marshall Faulk's rookie season he and Warren had monster games at the Pro Bowl. Bill Cowher was alternating them and they both passed the record for rushing yards in that game. Marshall ended up sealing the record with 183 (?) yards because he ran for a TD on a fake punt.Chris Warren's best rookie card was the 1990 action packed IMHO. He was very good for about 5 years and then went on to Dallas.

Remember when Blair Thomas went to Dallas!?!

Here's a guy that's really forgotten.

I knew what he did, but I couldn't remember who he was. I knew he was either a Rams RB or Lions RB. But it's not Amp Lee. It's not Robert Holcombe. But I found him:

Greg Hill.

Sure, I know what you're thinking: Who?

But Hill had 240 rushing yards and 4 TDs in 1998. That's normally unimpressive, but consider that Hill only played two games that year.
Dude, ask any Chiefs fan and they'll tell you this guy is junk.

Here's some more:

- Hart Lee Dykes

- David Woodley

- Eric Green

- Dexter Carter

- Sean Dawkins

- Roosevelt Potts

- Glyn Milburn

- Russell White

- Billy Joe Hobert

- Derrick Lassic

- Byron Hanspard

- Troy Davis

- Darnell Autry

- Joe Dudek
I believe he has put together a solid CFL career.

here's some steelers i can think of:Erric PegramCorey HollidayErnie MillsTroy Edwards (#1 pick  )Jamain Stevens (#1 Pick :hot: )"Pistol" Pete GonzalezWill BlackwellDeon FiguresDante Brown (Who FWP beat out to stay on the team last year) :towelwave:

Dan Hampton

The Mighty Karl Mecklenberg sp?

OJ Anderson
Didn't these guys all have pretty good careers? Meck was awesome for Denver, and OJ was on the 91 SB team in NY, IIRC. Hampton was around for about 10 years, which is a solid NFL career.
Yup. Dan Hampton didn't fall off the face of the earth.... he went to a city called Canton, Ohio and got inducted into the Pro Football hall of Fame.
Wow thanks for the help  I thought what this was is where these guys are now...my bad for misunderstanding the thread. Now Cecil Lammey may have understood what I meant:

Karl had a great career for the Broncos. You can catch him on local TV hawking windows. He's a spokesperson for Accent Windows
Thanks CL

Good ol' Ben Gay. Think I read in the paper last year he was back here in Houston (believe he's from Spring, to be exact) playing semipro ball. Seem to recall the writer pointing out how this was much different than what we all envisioned when he was one of the most highly recruited players in the state. Wish I could find the article but I've got no clue where to begin looking. Seen Greg Hill on SW Sports in the studio the last couple of years, haven't really paid attention to see if he's been on this year. Mostly covering the Big 12 and offering his insight (which ain't much). Guess the broken leg and Marshall Faulk coming to the Rams equaled the end for him. Bam Morris got released from prison fairly recently. Heard him on the radio and read a newspaper article about him and he sounded like he was very remorseful for what he'd done. He commented about how he'd wasted his talent but how it's made him a better man. Think he was close to finishing college or something. Sounds cliche but I actually believed him and hope he keeps his life straightened out....

here's some steelers i can think of:

Erric Pegram googled to find

Since retiring from the sport in 1997, Erric finished his degree from the University of North Texas and now works as a fitness and personal trainer in Texas. He also gives his time to the local community and attends many charity events
On a head shaver siteCorey Holliday

Ernie Mills Last stop before disappearing was Dallas

Troy Edwards (#1 pick  ) Last I knew, the Jags parted ways but were looking to bring him back

Jamain Stevens (#1 Pick :hot: )

"Pistol" Pete Gonzalez Think he is still with the Bills

Will Blackwell

Deon Figures

Dante Brown (Who FWP beat out to stay on the team last year) He's on the Seahawks

:towelwave:
Best I could do for you.

What about former first round draft pick John Avery?
John Avery got his ring after being released by the vikes in 03...he went on to join the Argonauts and help them to win the grey cup in 04. Currently working on starting a medical clinic in FLA...

Pistol Pete Gonzalez is not still with the Bills. He came here in like 2001 as a backup QB and was released before the season, losing his job to Travis Brown.

Here's one for you Bears fans...TOM WADDLE

Guy was an absolute pleasure to watch. If half of today's receivers had this guy's heart we'd all be the better for it.

Another name...

Stacey Mack? Where is he now? Fragile's all-important handcuff for many years. 9 TDs in '01.

Some of these guys had productive careers and just got old - you can't play forever...Chuck Cecil is the titans safeties coach now.I was thinking more of the ones who had one good/great season and couldn't repeat -Barry Foster, Ickey Woods (injury), timmy smith (arrested recently) fit what I was expecting to find here.
