Players Who Will Be Limitted or Not Playing At All (1 Viewer)

I am trying to decide between Bell and J. Lewis this week is why I ask.  :bag:
Cleveland is better against the pass than against the run. Jamal has run well the past two weeks. I'd seriously consider playing him.
I agree with omally, Shanny has no incentive to keep Bell in the game to get 130 rushing yards. Bell will be needed for the playoffs, I would think Dayne will get the bulk of the work.

Any news on Tatum Bell? Will it be him or Dayne carrying the load?
See "Who will carry the load in Denver" thread a couple below.Since I'm a homer the radio is all about Bell and the 131 yards he needs for 1000.

Anyone on Brady and Dillon playing time? Thanks.
With Smith not playing at all and Plummer limited, what are the chances Bell gets close to that 131 yards against the #1 run defense?I am trying to decide between Bell and J. Lewis this week is why I ask. :bag:
Is Rod Smith definitely not playing?? :link: please :link: :link: :link: :link: :link: :link: :link: :link:

Patriots still can earn the #3 seed with a win over Miami and a Bengal loss to the Chiefs this week.....Palmer is banged up and the Chiefs need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive, so KC has a good chance to win. Since both games (NE-Mia & KC-Cin) are played at 1:00 EST on Sunday, expect the Pats to play their starters until outcomes of both games are a certainty.
Not entirely true -- If San Diego beats a Denver team resting many starters on Saturday, KC will be eliminated before they step on the field. (They'd lose the tiebreaker to SD, who'd in turn lose a tiebreaker to Pittsburgh)

Sure he'll play the whole game.Start him at your own risk

Thanks but I am playing against him. Trying to figure out who I am starting and that might have something to do with who he has to start. He might have to play Smith or Darryl Jackson that is why I was asking for a link.

ANy update on the Garrard/Leftwich situation in Jax???
Zartan said that Leftwich is starting. I'm looking elsewhere.
The Thursday morning JAX papers said that it was still undecided, it would depend on how they practice. Fortunately, this sounds like a decision will be made by Friday rather than the dreaded GTD.

12/29/2005 Shaun Alexander, RB (Sea) Alexander will start for the Seahawks this Sunday at Green Bay, after leaving the team Thursday to attend his aunt's funeral in Cincinnati. The running back scored three touchdowns in last Saturday's win over the Colts and has tied Priest Holmes' NFL record of 27 touchdowns in a season, which he set in 2003. 12/29/2005 DeShaun Foster, RB (Car) Although he missed Wednesday's practice, Foster said he was sure he would play against the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers running back has rushed for 714 yards and one touchdown on 187 carries, and also has 372 receiving yards on 34 receptions. He has started the last three weeks, and in the last four weeks Foster has rushed for 320 yards. 12/29/2005 Carson Palmer, QB (Cin) The Bengals have not yet decided if Palmer will start this Sunday at Kansas City, but the team plans on having him start for years to come. Cincinnati gave Palmer a six-year contract extension through 2014 on Thursday. Financial terms have not been disclosed. 12/29/2005 Thomas Jones, RB (Chi) Jones is scheduled to start in the Bears' regular season finale against the Vikings, but is not expected to play much of the game. Jones needs 27 yards to join Walter Payton as the only two Bears running backs to gain 1,300 yards in a single season. Jones is expected to get some rest after reaching the milestone. 12/29/2005 Ronnie Brown, RB (Mia) After missing last week's game with an injured knee and ankle, Brown is listed as questionable for the Dolphins' regular season finale against the Patriots. 12/29/2005 Eric Parker, WR (SD) Although he was listed as doubtful last week, Parker played against the Chiefs and caught four catches for 33 yards. The Chargers' receiver is listed as questionable for Saturday's finale against the Broncos, but is expecting to play. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Parker needs four catches to average 50 receptions over the last two seasons. That would increase the $545,000 he is scheduled to receive next season by $500,000. 12/28/2005 Jake Plummer, QB (Den) Plummer is expected to handle the majority of the snaps with the Broncos' first-team offense in practice this week and be in the starting lineup for Saturday's regular-season finale against the San Diego Chargers. However, since Denver has a playoff spot already secured, the quarterback's playing time likely will be limited as a precautionary measure, trying to avoid injury. Backup Bradlee Van Pelt could see the most extensive action of his NFL career as a result. 12/28/2005 Tedy Bruschi, LB (NE) The leg ailment that forced Bruschi to leave Monday night's win over the New York Jets has been diagnosed as a calf problem. According to head coach Bill Belichick, the veteran linebacker was battling only some tightness in the leg, but reportedly, the injury could be as serious as a torn muscle. Bruschi left the stadium walking under his own power. 12/28/2005 Samkon Gado, RB (GB) According to Packers head coach Mike Sherman, Gado has shown significant progress in his recovery from a torn medial collateral ligament, and there is a chance he could see some action in Sunday's season finale against the Seattle Seahawks. The rookie running back, who suffered the injury in Week 15, was thought to be lost for the season. He'll likely be a game-time decision.

Patriot Players.I e-mailed Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe and here is his view for what it is worth:Hi Tony,Based on the last 2 days -- and the fact Brady took a lot of time to talkto us in the media today -- I'm really thinking things are going to bepeeled back in a big way on Sunday. I just think it has to be.With uncertainty over the team's next game -- will it be Saturday orSunday? -- I think Belichick owes it to the team to rest guys. Otherwise, they could be looking at 3 games in 13 days and that's not what you wantwhen you're prepping for a Super Bowl run. To me, the decision is an easyone. Bill always talks about making the best decision to help the team win,and I see no way a lot of the key guys (Brady, Branch et al) play a lot.--Mike   :banned:

I think anyone who plays Hasselbeck has to be in dire straits. I expect him to get thet kind of time Peyton Manning got last week. Why risk injury in a meaningless game in a bad-weather situation? I've already benched him for Kyle Boller. Now I have to decide whether to bench David Garrard, too. I think if he can play, Leftwich SHOULD play to regain his timing, etc. I'd play him at least a half if I was Del Rio.

finally some good info. thanks :goodposting:

Does anyone know who the QBs will be in the TENN/JAX game?Leftwhich may be healthy - does that mean Garrad is out?McNair is always hurt - Does Volek play, or do they put thier #3 in there to see what they've got in him?

last I saw poking around for info was Leftwich plans on playing (probably splits snaps) and McNair is questionable, has not practiced all week and the #3 there might get a look for the start.

The JAX Firday morning papers say that coach has a press conference today and will likely announce something today. Leftwich had a good practice Thursday with no setbacks from Wed, so one would expect him to play at least half time. The TEN papers say Mauck is the likely starter at QB.

Paper links are at www.theredzone.org (make sure you get the .org right, other extensions are porn sites).

Sticking with JAX - any word on Fred Taylor? THey've made the playoffs, and the back up RB is hurt - do they go with 3rd string, or risk an injury and play Taylor the whole game?

"Byron Leftwich complicated championship week for owners by returning to practice on Wednesday. David Garrard was set for a grand finale against a Tennessee pass defense that has allowed 31 touchdowns, but Leftwich's return clouds the picture as to how Jack Del Rio will handle his QB position. At this juncture, it appears that the two will split snaps, which doesn't help owners any."-Mike Harmon

But is it? Brady has played in far more meaningless games at the end of the year for the past few seasons.

I guess the idea that if the Pats were to have to play on Saturday, meaning the 3 games in 13 days, has some merit. But the playoff schedule won't be out untill late Sunday, well after the Pats game is done. They won't know for sure during the game.

I am not saying that the Globe guy is wrong, its just that it sounds contrary to all that I have read with respect to the Pats wanting to get the #3 seed. Yet in all honesty, as a Brady owner with week 17 games that count, I am now a bit unsure what to do with him.

Oh I'm not saying that it's gospel, but it was the first piece of info in a while here that was worth the read. Maybe I'm just fustrated by the lack of inof. I feel like I am the only one in America wondenirg if Dunn will start and get carries. :wall:

This week has sucked in general for information. Most fantasy sites closed up shop after the Week 16 games ended and not much information in the press about this week's games. Most teams have nothing at stake anyways, so I guess it's expected. I've got a championship game this week in one league and have plenty of decisions to make. But with no information on playing time, it's really hard.

If any of you were wondering about the Broncos, Al Wilson, Mike Anderson, and Rod Smith will all be sitting. Jake Plummer will also have limited play.
where did you get this from? Not doubting you, just want to contain my excitement since I am playing a Rod Smith owner in my Championship.
I'd be interested, too, since I have Jake, Rod and Mike on one team! (just playing the consolation game in this league, though, for 3rd vs 4th). My player notes do show that Anderson is out.

Anderson is definitely out. The team has said so.The big question is does Bell get his 130 yards to reach 1000, or is Dayne the man (I'd go Bell, I think.)

Where are all those "there's no reason not to play the title game in week 17" fools now

I sort of like week 17 championships. While the lack of information stinks it does provided an extra challenge. Teams that have a strong starting lineup but a weak bench usually don't do well in week 17. Whenever I'm in a league like this I make sure to have a strong bench loaded with guys that play on lousy teams who you know aren't going to be rested.

Sadly, we are all on other sites where some week 17 info can be found.

I agreed with this until the Texans put their #1 and #2 RBs both on IR since rosters were locked. :wall:

Absolutely. And for all the owners who wouldn't like having to play this week without Manning, Alexander etc. well talk to the other owners who have had to scramble for several weeks during the season to replace injured star players or star players who weren't productive. If one of the keys to winning a fantasy title is depth (and I believe that's true) I don't see what's different about having to utilize your depth in Week 17 to replace Shaun Alexander. Ask the Deuce McAllister or Darrell Jackson owners how they've liked having to replace those two key players for a large chunk of this season. When you look at it in that context, having to find depth for one week doesn't even come close to comparing to what those owners have had to deal with.Just my two cents.

Your points about managing depth throughout the season and the playoffs are well taken. The primary problem is that it is quite hard to even make the playoffs in a competitive league if you load up with depth (= marginal players). So handcuffing and having enough depth to cover a limited amount of injuries during the season is required, but you need the big players to get into the playoffs. That does not necessarily translate well into covering week 17 sits, and our free agency is over about 3/4 through the season. I am forced to play some scrubs this week due to both injuries and sits, but I am glad I am in the championship going for the big money. My opponent has LT and Gates, hopefully they sit or fizzle out.

These week 17 games add to the experience, making me feel like a scout, GM, and coach.By now, I am a chiseled vet.I lost Deuce McAllister, Javon Walker, drafted Andre Johnson, and Eric Moulds and Mason. I weathered the storm, played hard, adn was rewarded with a championship opportunity this week.

Darrell Jackson a definite no no.Peter Warrick is expected to have a larger role in Sunday's game against Green Bay.Darrell Jackson will be inactive, while Bobby Engram and Joe Jurevicious are expected to be rested for at least some of the game. "You can only have so many receivers," Holmgren said, "but he's going to get a shot to play Sunday. Time will allow him to be the player he should be. I expect him to play well on Sunday." Dec. 31 - 10:52 am etSource: Seattle Timeswww.rotoworld.com from Seattle Times.

it'd be nice if this were PINNEDmy big decision is at RB2: Dillon or GoreI'll be scouring the wire for any news on Corey. What really sticks in my crawl is the 134 total yards and a score he had in last year's "meaningless" finale...
