Players you drafted in the 1st 6-8 rounds you might bench Week 1 (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

Basically anyone you drafted to start for your team that now you are considering sending to the bench week 1. I'll start...Tony Romo.

-QB is usually a position I have at least 2 options and I'm not sure that some of the other guys in the 12-18 range you paired with Romo are not better options this week.

I am probably gonna bench Roethlisberger for Kolb this weekend.

P. Manning

Should add, I'll be starting M. Stafford in his place.

I imagine Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark may be on this list.

Miles Austin this week

Felix Jones??

Debating Fred Jackson at KC vs. Willis McGahee at home vs. Oak (also have Grant vs. NO). Still leaning Jackson just because he should see more touches than Willis, but I think Willis has a better shot at finding the endzone.

Ingram for Benson
Really? Explain if you care to.
Benching Ingram for Benson. I'm assuming you thought it was the other way around. Not playing R. Matthews either
I believe Ingram will be involved a good deal. I also feel the NO-GB game will have a pretty high score, maybe 45-51 total points between the two teams. Andy Dalton under center is not going to scare anyone even Cleveland. I like the better offense personally.

I have the same two qb but I saw an article that mentioned Baltimores new secondary including very young, very green CBs. With Balt's D line still pretty beastly and Pitt discovering their speedy outside WRs, I talked myself back to Big Ben.

I'm going by1- GB defense is much better than CLE2- I will assume that NO will still throw the ball. A lot. Until I see otherwise...

Hey Shane, the Saints want to get back to what won them a Super Bowl and that is a much more balanced approach. They didn't go out and bring in 2 new explosive WRs, they went out and drafted a RB in the 1st, and brought in Darren Sproles to go with Pierre Thomas to make one of the stronger 3 back trios in the NFL. Do what you are comfortable with but I sure wouldn't overlook Ingram for Benson. Even if Benson gets 20 touches, Ingram might do more with 15. Good luck.

1. Sitting Ray Rice for Ahmad Bradshaw in a 1 RB start. Don't trust Rice against Pittsburgh.

2. Sitting Ocho Cinco for Jared Cook (1.5 PPR for TEs). Don't like the talks of struggling with playbook, though certainly am on the fence with this one and may swap back to start Ocho depending on what we hear through Saturday/Sunday AM.

3. Sitting Peyton for Fitzpatrick....

Sitting Michael Turner (at Chicago) and will start Brandon Jacobs (who will be my #2 RB, after Ahmad Bradshaw - will be cool to sew up all Giant rushing TDs)

Turner is historically bad v. Chicago.

I am considering sitting Mendenhall for Bradshaw but not sure I can do it. I think Mendy is a safe bet to at least punch one in plus about 70 yards. Who knows what the Bradshaw/Jacobs split will be.........

I'm seriously thinking about benching Shonn Greene & rolling w/ McGahee instead this week. Just have this stupid gut feeling that Rob Ryan just ain't gonna allow his brother's team to pound the rock; make Sanchez beat them. Hopefully this feeling passes, b/c I don't wanna over-think it.

maybe Foster for P. Thomas and again maybe D. Clark for H. Miller. I want to do these but don't know if I have the stones

Collie for P. Thomas

sitting Lynch for S. Moss

team drafted in early july with no pickups until after week 1 - McNabb for Manning / Hightower in for R. Williams

Sitting Daniel Thomas for Amendola for my second flex spot... Don't think I'll be starting Thomas much at all this year as a matter of fact.

Lloyd over Austin

Reevis island with a hammy injury? No thanks!

FBG also has lynch over Mendenhall...hmm...i dunno about that.

I was probably going to go with Lynch over Ingram in week one but looking at last years stats GB gave up more YPG rushing than San Fran but GB only gave up 6 rushing TDs to San Frans 9. Maybe I'll roll the dice on Ingram.

Benching Roeth for Stafford

Thinking about benching Ingram or Mathews for Jacobs
Sneaky with Stafford as I believe Talib is OUT/Suspended for the 1st 4 games. Bucs are still a good defense but that is going to make it easier for Stafford.
Talib wasn't suspended.
Both Buccaneers CB Aquib Talib and Titans WR Kenny Britt met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell this week to discuss their offseason issues.

Talib was arrested in the offseason for assault with a deadly weapon. Talib has been suspended previously by the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy back in 2009. He was forced to miss the 2010 season opener.

Kenny Britt ran into a problem with law multiple times this offseason in addition to previous offenses including traffic violations and altercations at a bar. In April, Britt was arrested after a car chase with the police. He was again arrested in June for resisting arrest.

Both were expected to face some sort of disciplinary action, like a suspension, from the league to start the season but after the meeting, Goodell decided against it. Still, you can bet the two players are on a very short leash.
I am waivering on Roethlisberger/Stafford as well. Stafford has looked lights out in the preseason, as has Big Ben. I also have Best and Calvin starting in that league. 3 Lions in one lineup seems like a lot of eggs in one basket.

The Ravens can be thrown on, and the Steelers' weapons on the outside look explosive. Probably going Ben.

Looking forward to being at RJS for the Lions/Bucs game though. :excited:

That is serious over analysis.Turner has played Chicago all of three times, once when he was still a Charger.2009 - 15 touches, 46 yards, 1 TD2008 - 24 touches, 54 yards2007 (San Diego) - 10 touches, 41 yards.

Mendenhall has a pretty tough matchup with BAL. May go with Beanie instead against CAR.

Also, Flacco has a tough matchup with PIT. At my QB2 spot, may go with Orton instead.

Benching Peyton Manning for Fitzpatrick in one league.Considering benching Romo for Freeman in another.

Bneching Roeth for StaffordThinking about benching Ingram or Mathews for Jacobs
I have the Ingram/Jacobs quandary myself. TD heavy league, right now I have Jacobs in and Ingram on the pine. Also probably benching Austin Collie for Jacoby Ford or AJ Green.

Wayne or Austin for Manningham. Not liking Maclin enough to bench both of those guys this week. (TD only league)

Also might have Blount on the bench for Beanie.

Beanie over Ray Rice...you got some stones.
For the record, your first round guys are first rounders because they have the talent to excel and perform well even against tough matchups. Take this into consideration.

Those benching Austin, I've heard reports that Revis may be on Dez Week 1.

As for myself, I'm benching Felix for Greene.

Mendenhall had 210 total yards and 4 TDs in 3 games against Baltimore last season. There might not be a ton of running room, but there's a good chance he scores.Beanie does have a nice matchup though. Carolina's run D looks pretty awful.

2009 - 15 touches, 46 yards, 1 TD

2008 - 24 touches, 54 yards

2007 (San Diego) - 10 touches, 41 yards.
Seems like you're making his point for him. In 3 contests, he's never gotten more than 54 yards rushing, averaging less than 3 yards per carry. How is that serious overanalysis?

For the Rice owners, he actually has done some damage when he's had opportunities against the Steelers. Last year, they played Pittsburgh 3 times and gave Rice a whopping 29 carries total in 3 games. His aggregate numbers :

29-84-1 TD. He did, however, have 10 catches for 59 yards.

But, in 2009, they played twice and actually gave Rice the ball...

49-229-0 and 6-81 receiving.

So, career total in 5 games, he's 78-313-1 and 16-140.

Average game : about 16-63 rushing and 3-28 receiving. Only 1 TD in 5 games. Expect around 11 pts in a PPR format, 8 or so with standard FBG scoring, and 4 or so in a TD heavy format. Pray for a score.

I'm benching Moreno vs Oakland for Reggie Bush vs NE. (PPR)

I figure this is probably the only game I'll have Bush healthy all season, so I may as well get his top end production.

Agreed. Couple that with the fact that my opponent has no kicker (Saints) this week. It's prudent to take a safer course (of Jacobs) than run the risk of Turner being shut down again by the Bears and having Jacobs steal Bradshaw's touchdowns, as he did 9 times last year. And the Giants play a softer Washington run defense.
