Players you WISH you could drop, but just CAN'T (1 Viewer)

I have some players that I really would like to scuttle, but worry about leaving droppings on the Wire that another team will cash in on...

Disclaimer: most of these are in redraft or a simple 2-person keeper league...

Can't:

Maroney (keeper league...someone else could keep him for a 6th rounder next year)

DeAngelo/DeShawn (dismal offense...maybe DeAngelo has some upside still?)

SSmith ("see DeA/DeS"; plus I keep thinking Vinnie will play and make him a valid #2WR)

M. Harrison (any chance he comes back by week 16?!?)

Offloaded:

(none of these were very ballsey, BTW, but were early in the season)

TBell (around week 3)

LBetts

DJackson

MLeinert (just before his injury)

traded SSmith in one league for WParker...(then traded Willie for SJax!)

Marvin Harrison - for obvious reasons

Selvin Young - I hate the muddy RB situation in Denver, but if he can emerge as the man...

Guys I DID pull the trigger on...

Donovan McNabb - That actually felt really good!

Cedric Benson - Made a trade that got me Eli Manning (I'm dropping him this week!)

Travis Henry...I pretty confident you can drop DeShawn

Maroney. Seems like he COULD be good, though. I'd love to just drop him.
Apparently, these are all redrafts. Not sure if I would drop ANY of the above in a dynasty. My big one is Tatum Bell. The one league I still have him in, I have virtually no RBs. He needs to be dropped, but if I do, inevitably he will be scooped up by somebody and finally get a situation where he is the starter.

Shaun Alexander - because I traded Jacobs for him and dropping him would be acknowledging I'm an idiot.

Should that be reported to a moderator...calling yourself an idiot? ;) Hey, look at it this way...the Jacobs owner gets excited to be disappointed. He plays, he gets injured, he plays...he gets injured.

Heap....Knowing he was the #3 TE in PPR last year, I just can't seem to cut him. Been using Watson in his place. Still hoping Heap finally gets healthy and gets targeted a ton by Boller these last few weeks...

I second this. The worse part is that he looks like he can play he is just being under-utilzed because he doesn't fit the Pats need to score 50 pts a game as quickly as possible. I don't know which is worse having a guy that you think can play but isn't given a chance or having a guy (Alexander(?)) that gets chances and can't do anything with them. They both equal busts to me.

Redraft league...MJD. In need of a TE before the trade deadline (I have Heap...another guy I'd like to drop), I was offered Cooley for MJD straight up. I turned it down. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake.

Team 1 (no more waivers allowed in this league - player must be placed on IR to pony up $s for a replacement)

Lee Evans

JP Losman

Team 2

Fred Taylor

Travis Henry

Lee Evans (pattern here)

Ron Dayne: It's dynasty and so he has little long term value but he has great short term value. Dropping him would be bad sportsmanship, but I am already out of the playoff hunt and would rather pick up a young player with upside. Tried to trade him before the deadline but no one was interested...which was foolish on their part.

Dynasty league 1:

Matt Jones

Lorenzo Booker

Dynasty league 2:

Matt Jones

Chris Perry (could have traded him for a 5th?)

Darren Sproles

No offense: I know it is hard to drop guys in dynasty as you keep hoping they will perform and justify your faith in them. But...these guys you can drop. No worries. I dropped Matt Jones two weeks ago and I feel great and guess what? No one else has picked him up. Booker? It's week 12, the team has no healthy RBs, and they still don't activate him? He is not going to turn into a stud RB; at best he may someday become a change of pace guy. Perry? I gave up on him in the off season and he is still on waivers. Will he be activated this week? I doubt it. If he is he is still third or fourth string. Sproles? I don't even know who he is but I think he is a backup in SD, a third string backup. You can drop him.

no it wouldn't

Pseudo-Dynasty league:

Carnell Williams - don't see him doing much next year with Graham doing well...but can't outright drop him as I might get someone who wants to trade for him next year

Marvin Harrison - same value situation as Williams. Don't see him being overly valuable next year.

no offense, but you may want to consider the size of the league. If there were players worth picking up, I would drop some of these, but in a league where 800+ players are rostered, I guarantee someone would pick Jones and Perry up.You must either be in redrafts or small keepers if Perry is on waivers. For a very low risk (roster space + a WW pick?) he's worth it. Booker will be gone as soon as I figure out who to pick up for him, this league isn't as deep, but there's really nobody on the wire that will help me right now. Assuming of course that he isn't activated. Sproles is a short, shifty, speedy return specialist. When Turner leaves SD next year, he may just be LT's backup, and the kid has wheels. He's a lightweight, which is a concern. You're probably right that I can drop him, but for who? If he could just add some muscle, he'd be a younger Westbrook (but that may just be me remembering him in college)Most of these posts have to be in small redrafts. In deeper leagues it's harder to drop players.ETA: I am not, in any way, saying deeper leagues are better. Simply that it's a different dynamic.

Wish I could drop Reggie Brown. I'm too deep at WR, can't possibly start him, pending 2 injuries. But he's definitely improved lately, and there's at least 3 wild card teams that could use him if I drop him (one of which I'll most likely draw in the first round). So I'm stuck holding unless I NEED to get somebody else.

Marvin Harrison (lingering injury)

Steve Smith (QB situation)

Patrick Crayton (already have T.O on that team)

DeAngelo Williams (no opportunities)

Kenny Watson (handcuffed to Rudy)

Javon Walker (wanted to, but couldn't do it earlier....now I have to keep him)

My whole WR core with the exception of Braylon Edwards...

- Steve Smith

- Santana Moss

- Ron Curry

:(

I'll limit this to redraft only:

Maroney (worst 2nd round pick ever by me)

Ahman Green (he's a guy with potential in PPR league if healthy)

Phillippe Rivers (I always sit him in the wrong week he goes off)

Selvin Young (we're almost there)

That offense is offensive at this point. Even assuming Coles is back, they play Miami, New England, and Tennessee (assuming Haynesworth comes back) none of which are match-ups I like. I'm not even sure this team can put up points on Cleveland at this point. I have Cotchery in limbo for a waiver pick-up this week.

He won't be a starter anywhere else (unless by injury) and even if he does, I doubt he would do much.

That's mine in my deep keeper league. I doubt he has much value for next year, but I still don't want anyone getting a freebie just in case. Will make them burn a draft pick next year.
