Playoff drafts (1 Viewer)

How many folks here are in playoff drafts & what strategy do you employ?

My two leagues are both local & we sort of combine for a post-season draft. Meet up at a pizza place, draft between 10-15 rounds depending on the number of folks who make it that year.

Always a good time - lots of ball busting about the season, and of course, more fantasy football for everyone.

We do a snake draft, with no roster limitations.

Straegies differ because it’s an elimination contest as well as FFB scoring. Nice to have 4 QBs, but if they’re all 1 & done, thanks for playing & see ya next year.

The only year I won I drafted 5 D/ST.

Now everyone grabs them too early. Kickers are reliable sources of points at the back end of the draft too.

I tend to rank playoff teams & stack up on players from them while attempting to diversify between AFC/NFC. Sometimes I’ll hedge and pick players from teams I think will lose, because if I’m wrong I’ll have a guy advance in that bracket.

Many ways to approach such a draft though - what’s yours?

I might just do nfl if I can round up enough of the fellas. It isn’t great but it’s easy *shrugs

shocking.
I do! Our rules are a bit different- you draft a starting lineup and accumulate points as your guys play. Overall total at the end wins. We usually have about 10 guys but can do it with 8-16. If youndrsft a rb that plays week 1 of the playoffs and loses, well, you don’t get any more points from that spot.

So just a standard FFB lineup with limits?

This is exactly what we do. I managed to win back my entry fee from the regular league last year by winning the fantasy playoffs competition.

Let's get some discussion going here about lineups after this weekend's games.

Yeah, a starting lineup of qb/rb/rb/wr/wr/wr/te/k and use our normal scoring rules. When a players team loses, you simply don’t get anymore points from them. They advance, you have a chance to score some more.

We have 6 teams compete and will draft on Wednesday night with all teams being present.

We fill 9 positions and then once a player is eliminated we bid and pick up a replacement that is left. Ideally picking a player from a team that will play in the wild card weekend going to the Super Bowl will get the most games. Example: If you think LAR will keep advancing, I'd want Gurley as my #1 Ram, then followed by Goff, the WR's, D, and possible the K?

Popular early picks will probably be Brady, Bell, Brown, Gurley, Kamara, Ingram, and Gronk - just off the top of my head. We drew the 6th spot of 6. So, we're looking at #6, then #7 pick to open the first two rounds. We also have side bets with each team. It costs $120 per team with $20 going to the first pick up from a player eliminated, Bidding starts @ $20. We like to go players who play this first weekend, and then a few on bye. I don't imagine anyone will take Foles or even Keenum, but if we lose a QB, say Brees or Smith, etc., then we'll go after who is left.

Soooo... time to start watching the top pick ups for the playoffs now that the regular season is over.

I usually do NFL.com playoff thing with friends/coworkers. You repick every week, get bonuses for holding players longer.

Will also do a draft with standard rosters with 8 total teams.
