This could make a huge difference since it means the #4 seed would have to play NE in the Divisional Playoffs. The Chargers are a game back so obviously they need to finish 3-0 to have a shot and hope the Steelers lose a game.If that happens, the tie-breaker is:
Against common opponents (NE, Den, Jax, Balt), the Chargers are 2-2 with another game against the Broncos coming up. The Steelers are 1-2 with games remaining against the Jags and Ravens. Should they happen to finish tied against common opponents at 2-3 or more likely 3-2:Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (only applicable with a minimum of 4 common opponents)
Right now they are both 7-3 in the AFC. The Chargers remaining AFC opponents are the Broncos and Raiders and the Steelers have the Jags and Ravens.Realistically, the best shot the Chargers have of getting the #3 seed is to win out and have the Jags upset the Steelers. If they get past the Jags, then the Steelers shouldn't have much trouble against the Rams and Ravens.Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
