Playoffs Thread - New York Giants V San Francisco (1 Viewer)

Congrats to the Giants and their fans. Aside from the ending ( :P ) ) the game did not disappoint.

Both teams played their guts out. Play that game 10 more times in those conditions, and I think it's still a coin flip.

Wow, seems a lot of people would like to see the Super Bowl played immediately after the regular season!

Must be the sharque pool

Harabaugh presser on NFLN right now.
He came off just like I thought he would. Kind of guy that gets killed by his own troops in combat.
Eh, most of them these days don't deal with the loss presser well and frankly they don't answer too many questions in the win pressers either. He did a heck of a job in year one and with a full camp and that defense, they should be scary good next year.

How's that? /no interrogation, just curious.
Very passive agressive with the reporters on very simple questions.Sample: Reporter asked something like "did the weather play a role in your team not passing a lot in the first quarter?" "What do you think a lot is? No, come on, what's a lot to you?"Kind of like Parcells used to get after a loss. Parcells resume let him get away with a lot of that though. Harbaugh aint quite there yet

Refs gift-wrapped the super bowl to the Giants.
Unless one of the refs is wearing red and the number 10, that answer would be "no."
It should never have gone to OT. The refs blew two MAJOR calls to turn the game.
Give it a rest
Why? This a HUGE blown game.
Which are the two major blown calls?

As opposed to: 'We played well enough to win and except for two idiotic spdcial teams plays by the same guy, we should gave won'

Some of you folks are unbelivable.

I missed that. Probably not the way to deal with questions like that. I was thinking, though, that there's always a fine line between asking question and outright second-guessing to their face while being able to cya with saying "job requirements." The media gets their column, so they get to present their opinion to the public. One could just ask "Did the weather have anything to do with the run/pass balance in the first quarter and can you explain your thought process behind it?"But yeah, he especially is up for scrutiny when it comes to behavior.

a team that just qualified for the super bowl got beaten soundly by the redskins twice, seattle, philly, and were blown out by the saints.talk about disgusting.
Yep !!! And whats worse is ... A team that just qualified for the Super bowl got beat soundly by a team that got beat soundly by the redskins twice, seattle, philly, and were blown out by the saints and just qualified for the super bowl And if that's not bad enough ... A team that recently won the Super Bowl just got beat soundly by a team that got beat soundly by the redskins twice, seattle, philly, and were blown out by the saints and just qualified for the super bowltalk about disgusting.EAT IT D'BAG!!!!!!!!

What a freakin' game!!!! That was old school football right there! The weather was awful, the field conditions sucked, the Defense was ferocious, the special teams WAS the difference.

And now Big Blue is going back to the Super Bowl!!!

Stay Classy, Fensalk.

Unblemished 5-0, in the NFC's biggest game

First team to win a playoff game off of defeating the Super Bowl Champ of previous season

...and finally we make plays on Special Teams. So frustrating watching our special teams over the past 2 years, and to see them make a HUGE impact is great. What a game this was. Fist clenching for the last half hour.

The things I would give for a guy like Patrick Willis to don the Giants Blue. He is awesome.

Some great, great games today. I'm not a Niner or Raven fan but it is a shame that both games were lost rather than won.
I don't understand this thinking. A blown 32 yard fg? Yes that is losing the game rather than the other team winning it. But a crazy defensive battle ending in a brilliant special teams play that jars the ball loose from the punt returner thereby setting up the winning fg? That to me is a sound football team hitting on all cylinders in all 3 phases of the game scratching and clawing to a hard fought win. To characterize it as anything else is to not understand football IMO

Game was actually called very well. If you want to see bad calls watch the Giant vs. Packers game this year.
Going to the SB, and still a whiner
Your teams not going to the SB and we still disagree about the calls. Or to use your term for someone that disagrees with you, you're still whining the calls were correct.I will agree that the end result has caused the poor calls to be a non-factor.

Williams' mistakes were gamebreakers for sure.

Puzzling to me was the 49ers seemingly going away from the run in the 4th quarter. The NYG D looked gassed and Gore was gashing them prior to that. Alex Smith dropping back to pass on most every play wasn't going to get it done IMO.

Except it did if Evans holds onto the ball. They were actually very balanced up until the drive with less than 2 minutes to go.

:lmao: No sleep man, no sleep. The second sentence is correct though.

Seemed like Gore was calling to come out of the game after 1 or 2 runs. I wonder if he's still hurting from his injuries earlier than the season.

That would make some sense, though Hunter was also doing pretty well.Seemed to me that would have been a better option instead of putting everything on Alex in the last 2 minutes. A field goal try by a great kicker certainly would have been a possible result with that plan.

:goodposting: This time, it wasn't Brady or Eli leading their team on last second drives. Rather the wins came on goofs by the other teams. Kind of took away from otherwise exciting games for me. Still, the Pats and Giants deserve to win.

Enough of the 1958 game as the best ever, this one surpassed it. Ether team was destined to win the SB this season. Niners would have killed NE.

You do realize that the Patriots would have won yesterday if Welker makes that catch, right?
... and if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon. There are always a lot of "what if" plays in a football game... for both sides. If Chung got the seemingly obvious PI call called on him, the Giants would have likely been up at that point.
