Jordan Howard takes the tenth pick of the 2d round (22d overall), with 16 of 76 votes. It was again tight race with four players within 4 votes..  This time it was Jordan Reed that received no votes.  That poll/thread can be viewed here:  https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/754364-player-22-community-dynasty-rankings/

HOW TO ADD PLAYERS TO THE LIST

First, you can add a name to the current poll by clicking Other and telling me who you think is better than all players on the current list.  (Please tell me that you clicked the other button in the reply... not just the name of your nominee)

Second, in rounds where no one has clicked the other button to add a player, I will add a single player nominated in the comments.  This will be the player with the most support to be added in the comments (total users nominating that player)... in the event of a tie, it will go to the player first nominated in the comments.

Derrick Henry received 2 nominations and so is added this round.

I did not vote for other but I'm curious if we can have Demarius Thomas added. I do not necessarily see him as someone who would be above a guy like Allen (maybe if they had equal talent at QB) but I would put him in the conversation with Landry, Cooks, and Jeffery.

Curious if anyone would like to discuss Luck over Rodgers. Reasoning for this? Strictly youth? Granted, many of the top 5-10 QBs in the league are much older, but I would find guys like Carr, Dak potentially more valuable in dynasty than Luck. Luck hasn't taken that next step, at least from what I've seen. Maybe I'm wrong, which is why I'm asking.

Rodgers, in my view, is the #1 QB for the next 2-3 years, barring a breakout from some promising youngster.  It's why I wanted him in the poll, to see how much that current production would weigh against Luck's greater (presumed) longevity.

In terms of "dynasty value" in the abstract, where we're basically prorating a guy's remaining career, I go with Luck.  In a "real" startup though (average life expectancy <3 years, sadly) I would wait another few picks till Luck went off the board and grab Rodgers as my #1 QB.

Good point.  But you're also right that we should be looking at these as if we know the league will last.

maybe I've just been lucky but I'm in 5 dynasty leagues all of which have been around for over 5 years and one over 10 years - and I've never been in one that has folded. Is it really a widespread thing for dynasty leagues to fold within 3 years?

Often the case in leagues with multiple children or bad owners and weak LMs.

I've been in leagues that last over 15 years (a 32 team league where I assist the commish  - which we actually need 2 new owners this year) but one of my other leagues just folded this year after 3. After reading other posts around here,  it seems more common than we'd like.

I think the survival of a league depends on a few things:  the quality of the owners, the professionalism of the commish, but more important than the others is a general camaraderie among owners.  Competition is great, but I think friendships keep leagues alive.

I am only in a single dynasty league that have been around for 17 years (I joined year 3).  I had never met any of the other owners prior to joining the league, but I did know a few of them since they were writers for some prominent fantasy pages.  Since I joined in 2003, we have replaced four of twelve owners (six total changes but two of them were prior owners returning to the league) and I have met 5 of the 11 other owners when I moved or traveled to their region of the country.  We have a evolved into a group of friends that uses fantasy football to start the conversation.

I think that is the ideal.

Man. If anyone ever needs a dynasty fill in I am willing. I have been looking to get into a dynasty league for a while. No one in my leagues would likely commit to a dynasty league because of the longevity.

This is exactly why I would like to do a dynasty league. Meeting new people with common interests. Usually high quality owners are in these leagues as well. Not your coworkers husband who figures, "yeah I like the Packers, I'll play fantasy football..." (Proceeds to draft Mason Crosby round 7)

I've only been playing dynasty since 2011 but I'm up to 9 leagues now and none of them have ever folded. Only about half of those leagues are private, most of other half are FFPC. 1-2 of the private leagues have got dicey but we pulled through. Nothing beats a well run private league for a few reasons but they are riskier in terms of folding so if that was a major concern of mine, or anyone's, I'd join leagues like FFPC where you their backing and history should give you as close to a 100% assurance of continuity as exists.

I'm not sure on some of the other non-private dynasty leauges. I joined my first DFWC last year, don't have anything negative to say, but for sure don't feel same confidence level either.

agree with this, I've been in 2 private since early and mid 90's but beyond that I play in 6 FFPC and as far as I know they have never had one fold yet. Sure there is minor turnover each year but I'm confident in those leagues and the FFPC ownership. The only big risk is if we reach a point of too many states passing the stupid fanduel/draftkings laws and pushing FFPC out of those states. But again those guys are doing a pretty decent amount of lobbying to try and prevent it. I'd look there potentially in a few weeks, when the last few orphans are sold there will likely be some startups. they have prices as low as 250 now
