Clinton Portis ran 16 100-meter dashes at his normal times this week, indicating his knee tendonitis is behind him.

Portis is ready to go for the start of training camp. If he can stay healthy throughout August, his draft stock should rise back towards the first round in fantasy leagues. Ladell Betts is a solid player, but ultimately he's still a backup.

 thats alot of runs

I like reading news like this. It makes me feel good about myself for drafting Portis. I can remember reading this thread when in about 1 week the training camp injuries start coming in and my season begins to fall apart.

We'll see how well that tendinitis has healed after he takes the first helmet to his knee. :wall:
Tendinitis isn't caused by hits to the knee. So getting hit in the knee would cause problems for any RB, but it wouldn't have anything to do with tendinitis.

Correct. However, it can contribute to a recurrence of inflammation to the affected area. Thus more than likely putting him on the shelf again for atleast a few games during the season.Just sayin'.

I don't really see how times can show the knee has healed. Doesn't really prove anything.

He should be a force, IMO. However, with how well Betts did last year, I'm assuming we'll see plenty of RBBC no matter how healthy Portis is. Conserving your star RB who has had many injury problems, while not losing so much production is a simple choice to make.

Not times... the fact that he did the same times 16xs... thats what impressed me.

too bad the REAL injury he has, in in his shoulder , NOT his knee.. :lmao: ...lets see how that shoulder holds up to a 300lb lineman falling on it when he crushes Portis at the line of scrimmage.Think Siragusa smothering Rich Gannon, remember that play?you'll see once the preseason games begin.and, everyone is 100% healthy and runs good times, in July..lets see how Portis feels in late August..lets put the annointing oils away, for now..

You think Portis is going to see the field during the preseason? There is a better chance of Betts wearing down seeing as he'll be the one on the field the majority of the time.

He played in 7 games after injurying his shoulder last year and didn't have any problems with it. Now after a year of resting it and a proper surgery as well you think it will effect him? Sorry I don't get it.

His ADP is 2.01 before this news got out. No way do you land him in the 2nd rd in a month.
where? i've done about 20 mocks over the last week or so, and he is going in the late second at the very earliest. people are afraid.

Nothing nygiants56 says about the Skins and Portis makes sense. Learn to ignore it.

I've done 2 mocks in the last week. Portis goes about mid to early 2nd. I had the #6 slot and got him in the 2nd round of one mock. I wouldn't say he is going late 2nd.

ORLY?
if he stays healthy, he could have a monster season.

a shoulder injury for a hard hitting RB like Portis, might be hard to overcome, not to mention the chronic knee tendonitis he has.

risk far outweighs his value, imo..I think he'll go too early in fantasy drafts. there is NO WAY, Betts regresses to benchwarmer status, he's earned time by performing well last season.

He'll see PLENTY of action, thus, cutting into Portis' playing time. Hard to see CP going over 1200 yards rushing with Betts hanging around.

are we even sure Portis will be ready for opening day?

Took Portis in the staff IDP draft at 2.05 (Jul 3) and just got him at 2.10 in an interboard challenge league tonight. Both 12 teamers.

Good spots if he is healthy. Where did SA go? If healthy he could be another bargain.
1.07 and 1.06.
I'd have a hard time drafting him there after last year. THe potential is there, but he was such a letdown last year.

I'm scared to death of the 7th pick I have this year. Portis will be staring me right in the face.
Pass on him and grab him in the second where he is going in every draft...
Parker @ #11, Portis @ #18 just a couple weeks ago :DOne benefit of drafting early. (I hope), this is also the team where I took Vick in the 5th though. :wall: (2 QB start)
Man I love reading this. Feeling good with Portis, Parker and Benson on my dynasty team.
 LT and Portis in a dynasty, I would take Portis in the 2nd round of every draft I'm in.

I traded Bush + McGahee + Kellen Winslow for LT + Portis + Betts in dynasty this offseason too.... great news

That's a sick trade. Nice to see some big names changing hands out there....I hardly see that.

The LT/Portis owner got desperate because his team got completely gutted this off season.....he knows he stands no chance this year despite LT so he decided to build for the future going younger He had Vick as QB; and his WRs are just horrible with Keyshawn Johnson; Mike Furrey (both lost value this offseason in a dynasty); Chad Jackson (injury issues); Nate Burleson; Roddy White; Ashley lelie; Marty Booker and he had no TE (Marcedes Lewis and Desmond Clark from Bears - Des lost value in offseason too)So he came to me with the offer to give up KWII + Bush + McGahee + my 2.06 rookie round pick for Des Clark (Bears) + LT + Portis + Betts + his 3.10 rookie pick. Since I also have Tony Gonzalez on my roster, this was an easy move for me. Looks even better with this Portis news, which I expected to benefit from.
