Portis, McGahee, or James? (1 Viewer)

Ok I am wondering what some of you have as to thoughts about these three guys. I am forcasting with my fantasy redraft league and the sixth pick that I will have the choice of one of those three guys, given Portis with Betts presence, McGahee, new team but not RBBC, and James, even though Whisenhunt is there, first year for coach and maybe some line questions still. I have steven jackson and the league scoring is 6 pts td, 10 yds rush catch is one point. no ppr though. Who do you guys this is the best option for this up and coming seaon to draft. Thanks

This should really be brought up in the Assistant Coach Forum.

Thanks for the great post  I'm interested in hearing as well, because I'll likely be choosing between them in the 2nd round of my draft

I'm choosing Portis mainly because of TD potential. All of these guys will get significant carries, but the runners in Arizona and Baltimore really haven't scored much recently, while in Washington Portis has scored pretty well.

Wait, your post was very confusing unless I'm mis-reading. You say it's a re-draft, you already have SJax yet you're asking about the 6th OVERALL pick? Most first rounds are going some combo of....LTSJaxLJ (barring holdout)GoreAlexanderAddaiWestbrookFWPRudiMaroneyetc etc.If you're asking who of these backs would I take a chance on in the SECOND round if I wanted to go RB-RB, I'd personally go 1. McGahee (no competition, great defense/weak passing game = lots of ball control, good field position), 2. Edge (no competition, "run to set up the pass" Whisenhunt offense that does use creative formations but is about power running, great passing game to open things up for Edge), 3. Portis (still a bit undervalued, will still get goalline carries because Betts sucked @ that good as he was last year, but Betts IS still there stealing overall carries).

Portis- Loads of talent, injury prone, slight RBBC even if healthy

Edge- heavy workload past few years indicates he should be due for a year with less reps but the Offense in general should be better, especially OL play

Willis-never showed much in Buffalo of his former U self, while a servicable RB is not destined for greatness. BAL o-line has gotten worse since Lewis left and Willis and Jamal's numbers the past few years are almost identical.

I think the safest bet here is Edge, I personally think Portis can't hold up for a full 16 as the man anymore and Willis's Jamalesque track record is what you be talking about.

I'd go with McGahee here as I think he is the safest pick. I love Portis potential but he does have ? marks about playing time and health but I do think those will answered positively for his owners, I have Portis in my dynasty league and if someonoe offered me Mcgahee for him straight up I'd do it. While someone in this thread earlier said Mcgahee hasn't shown the talent or success he displayed in college I would ask him to look at the stats again

RB Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens

Career Statistics

That is on a weaker team, Balt is built to have a power running game....Hell as bad as Jamal Lewis is now days he still was the #16 rb lst year. McGahee has to be ranked in the top ten @ rb's.

Portis is more of boom/bust selection this year (I love him) and could reward you nicely but if you put Mcgahee with S-Jax you would be looking pretty nice.
