I'd be down, depending on the weekend. We're getting into the time of year where our house becomes an AirBnB with all the friends/family my wife invites.

This increases the odds a bit, as that is where my parents live. But nobody wants to go out in Sherwood unless you live in Sherwood (nice little town, just not much there).

No, no, no definitely NOT like going into Oakland. It's just one of those sleepy little hamlets that represents the last outpost of Portland proper. Troutdale southwest without the meth. It's a terrific place to live with a nice, quaint downtown but there is no quick, easy way to get there - an Uber would cost $40ish for me one way and they may not pick me up because it'd be a one-way journey for them most likely with no return fare back to Portland.
The city of Portland has a strange way of making destinations that appear close to you on a map feel like a chore to get there. It's the damndest thing. 15 miles in Dallas or the Bay Area? That's like going to the grocery store for some of you. In Portland, that can feel like a covered wagon ride festooned with precarious river crossings and cholera outbreaks.
i am in process of buying the car. they are just doing some maintenance that i requested, and covering the cost of shipping it to me.
i very much wanted to do this trip to see you guys, but timing did not work as we are hosting out of town family, and a graduation party for daughter's grad weekend. mrs needs me around for honey-dos.
