Positional Matchups? What's this analytic mean? (1 Viewer)

In the subscription section, under line ups. It says SOS for all positions, and of course you can sort by position and league. 49ers top the list at RB, they play the Eagles. What exactly does this mean? that their rushing game faces the most difficult team matchup? Sorry, new.

So I deduced that it seems to be inverted from what I guessed it to be, and seems to go best to worst. But I'm still confused what one number for everything is supposed to tell me. All it does is total all the fantasy points for that aspect of the offense, and the only way it separates them is by game and team. Any chance I could get some clarification? This does seem like the right forum for the question.
